Background Information
Nintendo formally announced the Switch 2 on January 16th, 2025. They shared more information at Nintendo Direct on April 2nd, 2025, and launched the device on June 5th, 2025.
Nintendo Switch 2 is larger than the original Switch, released in 2017, and sports a larger display. It notably features two USB-C ports, one on the bottom and one on the top. Its kickstand is now metal, and the new Joy-Con 2 controllers are magnetically attached instead of sliding in to lock. It's backwards-compatible with most Nintendo Switch games.
Identification
The Nintendo Switch 2 can be identified by the large "2" in its logo on the back. The console itself has a mostly-black design with colored accent stickers surrounding the Joy-Con 2 connectors on the left (-) and right (+) sides.
