Dell Latitude 3189 Troubleshooting Page
This troubleshooting page will help you diagnose problems with the Dell Latitude 3189.
The Battery will not charge
When plugging in the charger the battery status light will not light up or the battery status will not change to charging.
Faulty Charging Cord
The problem may not be with the device itself, but instead could be a problem with the charging cord. With the cord unplugged, clean the charger of any debris, check for damage, and try plugging it back into a verified working electrical outlet. If you have access to another device with the same charging port, try charging the other device. If the cord cannot charge the other device, the cord is faulty, and a new one should be purchased.

When a user presses a key on the keyboard there is no observed response on the screen.
Faulty Driver
If the keyboard is not responsive you may need to reinstall the device drivers. To do this, you will have to go to device manager and uninstall the keyboard drivers then restart the laptop and Windows will attempt to reinstall the drivers. If you do not have a spare USB keyboard that can be plugged in to the Dell Latitude 3189 then you can use the on-screen keyboard. Go to “Start (Windows logo)”, then select “Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard” and turn on the “On-Screen Keyboard” toggle. Then you can type in device manager into the search bar on the taskbar. Battery usage optimization
Depending on how many applications you have downloaded, background applications can drain your battery quickly. Screen brightness or Windows power saving settings may also affect battery life. Faulty Audio Drivers
Resetting the Audio Drivers may improve the sound output. To do this, run the Audio Troubleshooter through Windows and follow the instructions on the screen. To get to the Audio Troubleshooter on Windows, go to "Start (Windows logo)", then select "Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other Troubleshooters" and click "Run" next to Audio. Trackpad will not work
Nothing happens when the user touches the trackpad.
Driver Failure
If the trackpad is not responsive you might need to reinstall the device drivers. To do this, you will have to go to device manager and uninstall the keyboard drivers then restart the laptop and windows will attempt to reinstall the drivers. In the meantime, you can use a USB mouse to navigate.
Faulty trackpad

Cannot save anymore files
The device is not able to save files on the internal storage.
Cluttered Files
Storage space will fill up as you save documents. To free up space consider deleting temp files or files that you do not need. Alternatively, you can move files to an external storage device or move them onto a cloud storage service.
