Toshiba TDP-XP2 Troubleshooting

Excessive heat being produced causing performance issues.

Make sure that there are no objects covering the air vents around the sides or on the bottom of the device. Clean off any dust that may build up around the fan vents. The fan itself may collect dust over time. Clean it off with some pressurized air.

Check to make sure that the fan is on by looking inside and feeling for a breeze while the device is powered on. If the fan does not spin, consider replacing it.

Grinding or clicking sound occurring while the fan is spinning.

There may be loose cables hitting the fan as it rotates. Remove the back panel and tape or glue any obstructing cables out of the way.

The fan bearing wears down over time. Access the fan and apply 1-2 drops of oil on the bearing. If the problem remains, consider replacing the fan.

There may be a small scratch visible on the front lens.

Scratches can be prevented by using the provided lens cover while in transport. Due to the anti-glare coating on the lens, do not apply any polish. Attempts to fix a scratch may cause further damage to the device and is not recommended.

When the devices is properly plugged in, it will not power on.

Burn marks or melting on cables could indicate that your device is overheating. Replace these immediately and see the Overheating section above.

Make sure all cables make the proper connections by reinserting them. The cables still work if there is a flicker in the image while moving them around. If this does not solve the problem see other troubleshooting options.

Look for exposed wires on the display and power cables. Any cable with exposed or severed wires should be unplugged and replaced immediately.

The bulb can burn out over time. If you are able to hear the fan spinning and the LED indicators on the top are working, this could mean that the bulb has burned out. See this guide on replacing it.

In the event of a power surge, if the device is not plugged into a surge protected outlet, the internal fuse will blow to save the projector. See this guide on replacing the fuse.

The may be vertical or horizontal lines present on the displayed image.

Wiggle the cables to make sure that they make full contact with the connector. Consider replacing old or worn out cables.

Take a soft, damp cloth and wipe off the lens. Do not use excessive force or chemicals here because it could damage the anti-glare coating.
