The buttons aren't responsive

Make sure the DVD player is plugged into a power source and into the TV. Then check to see if the DVD player is turned on by pressing the power button. The power button will turn blue and words will appear on the DVD player’s display.

Check to see that the power cord is plugged into the back of the DVD player, where it indicates "AC IN~". The HDMI cord should be plugged into the TV. If you aren't using an HDMI cord, make sure the AV cables match the colors of the ports they're plugged into.

Check to see if any of the wires connected to the DVD player are damaged. If they are, you will need to buy replacement wires.

The DVD player’s power button is not working

When you press the button, make sure that it can be pressed in. It should pop back out when released. If the button is stuck in place, then click here for the guide on how to replace the power button.

The DVD player is unable to read the disc

Check to make sure the DVD is clean and free of scratches. Wipe off any smudges and dust with a soft cloth. Then, check to see if there are any scratches. Scratches prevent the DVD from being read correctly and cannot be used.

If there appears to be no issues with the DVD, the optical lens may be faulty and will need to be replaced. The optical lens is a bulb which reads the DVD. Click here for the guide on how to replace the optical lens.

The disc tray is unable to open and close

Check to see if there is dust or dirt in the crevasses around the button. If there is, use pressurized air or a toothpick to clear the debris.

If the open button is properly working, then the issue could be a faulty drive belt. The drive belt looks like a rubber band, and is what moves the disc tray. Click here for the guide on how to replace the drive belt.

The surface of the DVD player feels hot

Check the back of the DVD player for the fan, which will be covered in circular vents. Look to see if there is dust blocking the vents. You can use pressurized air to blow the dust away or a soft cloth or cotton swab to wipe away the dust. If this still doesn’t work, there may be dust inside the fan. Look and listen to see if the fan is spinning. If the fan isn’t spinning, it can cause the DVD player to overheat and cause damage to the circuits and other components of the DVD player. Click here for the guide to replace the fan.

Like with any electronic, prolonged use will cause the device to overheat. If you have been using the DVD player for more than several hours, power it off and let it cool down for at least 30 minutes.
