Kindle Will Not Turn On
Kindle does not respond to the touch and displays the "no battery" icon.
Kindle is Not Charged
Though the Kindle has a long battery life, it won't live forever! The Kindle 7th Generation does not come with a battery charger, but if you have not purchased one, any micro USB charger should work. Plug your Kindle in; the Kindle should charge in less than 6 hours according to Amazon.
Charger is Faulty
The problem may not be with the Kindle, and instead be a problem with the charging cord itself. Try charging a familiar device with the same charging cord you used with the Kindle to verify that it functions properly. If the cord cannot charge your other device, it is most likely faulty and a new one should be purchased.
Battery is Faulty
Plug your Kindle in using a charger that you know works. If the Kindle still does not charge, this is a sign of a faulty battery and the battery needs to be replaced.
Motherboard is Faulty
The Kindle is a relatively simple device in that it does not contain many components. Through process of elimination, faulty parts can be narrowed down easily. If the Kindle does not turn on after the previous steps, it is likely that the motherboard needs to be replaced.
Screen is Frozen
The Kindle does not respond to touch; display remains the same.
Screen is Dirty
The Kindle 7th Gen.'s touch capability is made possible by infrared LED lights around the border of the screen. Blocking these lights will make it difficult for the Kindle to sense your touch. Use a soft cloth and designated electronic screen cleaner to clean the screen, and make sure there is nothing blocking the screen edges!
Battery Life is Low
It is possible the Kindle will not respond if the battery is too low. Plug in and charge your Kindle.
Kindle Requires a Restart
Sometimes all a machine needs is a good restart to get it functioning like it is supposed to. Unplug your Kindle if it is currently charging and reboot your Kindle by holding the power button on the bottom of the device for 30 seconds.
LED Circuit Board is Faulty
The "touch screen" sensation is created by a grid of infrared LED lights and receptors above the display screen. When your finger breaks the grid at a certain point, a "touch" is registered in the device. It is possible that the circuit board in charge of this function is faulty, and needs to be replaced.
Kindle Will Not Connect to Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi symbol does not appear and web-based applications will not load.
Wifi is Not Enabled
The Kindle cannot connect to wi-fi if you don't let it! Verify that the Kindle's wireless connection setting is enabled.
Router and/or Modem Issues
If you still cannot connect to Wifi, you may be experiencing problems with your router and/or modem. First turn off the Kindle, then turn off your router and/or modem. After 30 seconds, turn your router and/or modem back on, and attempt to connect through your Kindle. If you still cannot connect, there may be issues with your service provider.
Screen has Lines on it
Black lines appear across the screen.
Interference From Other Devices
Your Kindle may be affected by stronger nearby devices, such as a computer or a printer. Move away from these devices and reboot your Kindle by holding the power button for 30 seconds.
Faulty Screen
If the lines remain after moving away from interfering devices, it is likely that the screen is faulty and needs to be replaced.
Passcode is Forgotten
You cannot remember your Kindle Passcode.
Factory Reset Required
Note: All content will be deleted from your Kindle through this process, but can be retrieved from your Amazon account.
If you have forgotten your Kindle Passcode then you must reset your Kindle to its factory settings. This can be done by entering the 9-digit code "111222777" in the passcode field.

I just bought one of these it was only used once and put in the cupboard now when you charge it up it will all function but only when plugged into the mains as soon as you unplug from the mains nothing will work, it's just on a frozen screen! I thought it was battery issues but that's fine it just won't work unplugged!

Any ideas please ? I have factory reset this a few times and still the same!
Gary - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
I am exact similar issues with Gary.
Another thing I noticed is that the LED (Amber when charging / Green when fully charged) at the bottom of the Kindle (next to the Power button), does not light up when pressing the Power button when unplugged from power source (it is supposed to light up Green).
Anyone with any ideas what is the problem / how to fix this? Model#: WP63GW.

I continue to get “Authentication Problem” when entering password in order to connect to wifi. I know the password that I used but it will not accept it. I did enter the 111222777 factory code but it also fails?

Hi, sonora108, the WiFi password might be wrong. Try connecting to a different network and see if that works.

I have a Kindle Fire 7 7th Generation. Within a month of me having this I started noticing that when I would go to plug my Kindle in I would have to either switch chords to get it to charge or wiggle the cords around to where it would charge my Kindle. Next thing I know my Kindle stopped charging. Now When I go to plug it in the green lightning bolt will come on. Within a minute I'm able to power my Kindle back on however it does not charge my Kindle. It just sits they're on 1% until eventually it will die again and then I have to repeat my process all over again. I've tried switching cables and boxes. I even managed to reset it. Nothing I've tried as working does anyone have any suggestions

My Kindle 7th Gen. is completely unresponsive. The screen shows a blurb about Black History Month. My touch has no effect. The battery symbol was on the screen; I plugged it in via USB charger, and that screen appeared. There is an amber LED by the USB socket which goes off if I remove the USB. Button has little to say for itself. If I hold it 10 Seconds,, it blinks a few times. That is all it does.
I got it as a present, it lay dormant for some time until now when I finally have something I want to read on it. I have the feeling it is going to be an “expensive paperweight”.

I have a blank screen but get notifications of texts and the “welcome “jingle when I hold the power button to do a forced restart ( this has never worked) but the screen remains blank. I was informed my gen7 has water damage but no one can tell me what part needs replaced can you? I’m assuming as it makes the sounds it’s not the battery.

I threw my bag on the floor and a jar of horseradish inside smashed covering everything with sauce and glass including my kindle. It had no cover on and the edge of the plastic screen was slightly damaged (although not the touch screen itself) I got it home and plugged it in to charge but it wouldn't, with the screen flashing off and on like a glitch. I would prefer to fix it than get a new one if at all possible. Any recommendations for kindles suffering this kind of injury? Again I'm not sure if it was the blunt trauma of the drop, the smashed glass, or the liquid from the horseradish. Triple whammy…
Thanks!

Hi everyone,
Does anyone out there know where I can obtain a motherboard for a 7th generation Paperwhite please?
It seems to be the world’s best kept secret!

Any idea why mine won’t charge beyond 95%? I’ve tried a full reset but it makes no difference.

does anyone have a blank screen? My kindle has been restarted multiple times. It will show a book on the screen when you turn it on ( or in my case open the cover) when you swipe to get to the book or library it only has a blank screen and will not change. I can’t pull up settings because of the blank screen. I have charged the battery and that is good. But I have nothing! It is beyond frustrating. Any ideas???

My wifi has somehow lost its ability to connect to wifi.. I've tried to connect to both my Hotspot abd my home wifi.. Both show up when I scan and my .otem recognizes the connection but I keep getting an error message so I can't do anything. I've restarted all devices numerous times and I have no issues with other device connections. I was reading a book abd my screen suddenly locked up and I had to do a Factory Reset. Now my device is not allowing me to re-register because it will nit accept any wifi connection
