Make sure that your device is on. If the screen is not responding to touch and seems to be frozen, try to restart the device. Hold the power button for 40 seconds or until the device turns off. If a pop-up appears with the restart option, keep holding the button until the tablet shuts off. Once turned off, press the power button again for 2 seconds to turn back on.
Screen is Faulty
If restarting your device was no help you may have a faulty screen on your device. This will require a screen replacement.
Device Not Playing Sound
There is no sound playing from the device.
Volume Turned Down
The volume buttons are on the side of the device. Make sure the volume is up by pressing the upper volume button. If this does not solve the issue, check the volume settings in the settings app (seen by swiping down on the home screen) and ensure you do not have the sound muted or turned down too low.
Device Requires Restart
The problem may be related to the device needing a restart. Hold down the power button for 20 seconds until the screen goes black. Wait a couple seconds after it has powered down and then press and hold the power button again until it restarts.
Bluetooth Impairing Audio
The issue may be resulting from your bluetooth. Turn off the bluetooth as it can cause issues to your audio. To turn off the bluetooth, swipe down from the home screen, tap wireless, and then, next to enable bluetooth, tap off.
Operating System Not Up to Date
Amazon is always updating their devices software. To ensure you have not missed out on an update, check your settings and updates to see if your operation system requires an update. An out of date operating system can cause audio issues.
Device Requires Factory Reset
It may be necessary to get the device back to default settings. We can do so by factory resetting the device. Before factory reseting your device, make sure to back up your device and its information by swiping down and going to settings, tap device options, tap backup and restore, turn on device backup, tap back up now.
To factory reset, swipe down from the home screen and press on the settings icon, go to device then tap device options, select reset to factory defaults, confirm by tapping reset option on the alert that pops up.
Try Headphones
Plug in a headphone and see if sound is played this way. Then unplug the headphones and check if the onboard speaker is working. If the sound plays when the headphones are hooked up but not when they are unplugged then you have a problem with the onboard speakers. If the headphones are not working then there may be a problem with the headphones you're trying to use or with the headphone jack/port.
Faulty Headphone Jack
If the speaker is playing sound but you are not able to hear anything when you have headphones in then the headphone jack could be faulty or dirty. Try to use compressed air to blow any dirt or buildup out of the headphone jack. If you are inserting the proper type of headphones (standard 3.5mm audio jack) and it is still not playing sound then you have a problem with the headphone jack.
Faulty Speaker
If the sound plays when headphones are plugged in but not when you unplug them via the onboard speaker then you may have a faulty speaker. This may require a replacement of the speakers to fix.
Camera Fails to Turn On
The camera does not turn on and displays a black screen
Allow Camera Permissions in Settings
Sometimes we disable camera privileges on accident when first accessing an app or we change our mind and want to enable access. Ensure you have the permissions enabled on the app/apps you are trying to use to be able to access your camera. To check or toggle the enabling of the permissions go to settings by swiping down from the home screen, tap apps and notifications, tap app permissions, and tap camera and then toggle the permissions on. If this does not work then uninstall the app and reinstall. When it asks you to allow access to the camera this time press allow.
Device Requires Restart
A restart can be a solution to many problems. Press and hold the power button until the power off window pops up. Press ok to shut down the tablet and then press and hold the power button again until the device turns on.
Faulty Camera
Ensure your camera hardware is still functional. Press the camera app on your device and access the app. Once on the camera app, ensure that the front and back cameras are working by seeing what is in front of you and your device on the back camera and by seeing yourself on the front camera. If you are seeing a black screen or the camera app is crashing then there is a problem with the camera hardware. You may need to replace your camera hardware.
Charger Slows Down or Not Charging
The device charges very slowly or does not charge at all when connected to the charger.
Charge Device 30 Minutes even with no Display or Charging Icon
Charge your device via the correct charger that comes with the purchase of the device for at least 30 minutes even if there is no icon showing up. After the 30 minutes hold the power button to turn on the device.
Reboot Device in Recovery Mode
Press and hold the power button and the volume down button at the same time for 5 seconds to put your device in recovery mode. This should cause your device to reboot itself.
Charger Requires Upgrade
Sometimes, certain types of chargers are slower than others so you may need a better, faster charger. Fully charge in under 5 hours using the USB-C cable and 5W power adapter included in the box. Fully charge in under 3 hours with 9W adapter (sold separately), and under 2.5 hours with 15W adapter and USB type C to C cable (adapter and cable sold separately). Try out some of these chargers that are sold separately to get better and faster results.
Charger, Charging Port, or Outlet are Faulty
The charging cord, the charging adapter, the charging port, or the outlet in which the charger may be broken. To rule out the outlet issue, try another outlet and see if that works. To weed out the charging cord and adapter switch one of the two at separate times and see when it works whenever each piece is separately replaced. If it still does not work after switching these 3 things, then you may have an issue with the charging port itself which will need a replacement.
Device Buttons Become Loose after Usage
The buttons on the device are not responding to pressing them.
