Numbers 1-9 won't work (possible num lock issue?).
Thanks in advance. I have macbook a1342, and it appears that maybe the num lock function is off (although 0 works). The number keys 1-9 suddenly stopped working (mid session). I stupidly restarted my computer hoping it would help, forgetting my password has numbers in it. Ugh. I've tried a few solutions but none have worked and its hard to search on my phone. I tried the suggested fn+f6 as well as hitting option 5 times in a row, but neither worked. Thanks for any help!

Can you plug in an Apple USB keyboard? That might let you enter in your password and then you could try using Apple HArdware Test as well as make sure your OS & firmware is up to date.

I'm not sure if my last comment to you showed up Dan. Thanks so much for the help! I did the hardware test and everything was fine, it said. I also updated my computer. The problem is still there, unfortunately. Do you have any ideas?

So you were able to gain access via the USB keyboard using the number keys on it - correct? If that is so then it sounds like you need a new keyboard.

Can you tell us what keys your having problems with and what happened when they stopped working. Have you likewise run Apple Hardware Test and checked your OS & firmware? Does the Apple USB keyboard work? And lastly is your system the same as Carrie's?
