Camera won’t turn on
Xiaomi Yi will not respond when trying to power on
Drained/Bad Battery
If the Xiaomi Yi won’t turn on, it could be a drained battery. Try plugging in your device into an AC adapter or computer with a micro USB cable an check if the red LED ring around the power button lights up. Reading around the net I've discovered that there are many of us who have a problem with charging. My camera no longer charges, though the lights indicate that it is when plugged in. I'm currently using an external battery charger with extra batteries but I'd love to have a camera that works right. Xiaomi won't respond to support requests or respond to questions on their forum. I suspect this is a know issue and they don't want to accept any potential liability by admitting it exists.

This camera is the LAST Xiaomi item for me. I bought my A7LS sports camera in February 2016 but have used only 3 times. And now it is dead! I mean, it makes beeps and shows red light but that's all it does. The WiFi wont turn on and the camera begins heating up a bit after like 3 minutes. There is NO WAY the wifi on the camera would show any signs of life. I bought this thinking it is a good quality product but now I feel I wasted my money. So, goodbye Xiaomi, wont buy anything again from you.

I also had the same problem . I have 3 batteries fully charged and none of them works ! I also plugged the camera with the battery to a power outlet and I'm stuck to the red light the whole day and wont let me use it without unplugging the power . This camera was not used a lot because everytime I want to use it the battery dies . And Just have to throw it in the trash!

I purchased this camera a while back. This is the first time I have pulled it out of the package and tried to use it. I have charged it up but nothing happens when I try to turn on the WiFi and detect it with my phone. What the !&&*? Am I going to find that this was a lemon of a purchase? Very disappointing...

I did. It's an indication of no free space left on the SD card.
It happened to me when I've freed up some space on the card using MacOS, but it actually put the files into the Trash folder on the card instead of completely removing them.
Formatting the card in the camera is the quickest solution if you don't have any valuable files on it. Else, insert the card into the computer and clear the Trash bin after the card is detected.

My Problem is that every time I record video, the camera records it in random length segments, I never know when it is recording it or stopping for a break to continue whenever it feels like, its very odd, the 1st few clips are the shortest then it gets a bit longer? !!!
