The Headset Isn’t Outputting Audio
There is no sound coming out of the headphones or the sound is distorted.
The Volume Knob Is Set to Low
Your volume knob may be set to the lowest position. Simply rotate the volume knob on the headset counter-clockwise to increase the volume.
The Cables Are Not Connected Properly
Check to make sure that all the cables are properly connected between the headset, GameDAC, and the device. If there is debris in the sockets, clean them out using compressed air. Reconnect the cables and test the headset again.
The Headset Drivers Are Not Updated
Check if your software is out of date. If it is, your headset audio quality could be affected. Please follow this link to update your software. Sign in or create an account to download the software. Once you have updated it, test the headset again.
The Audio Port on the Headset Is Damaged
If the headset is still not transmitting audio very well, the connection sockets may be damaged on the headset. Check out our guide on replacing the 3.5mm audio jack.
The Volume Knob Is Jammed
If you are having trouble rotating the volume knob, the mechanism may be damaged. Check out our guide on replacing the volume knob.
The Microphone Isn’t Transmitting Audio Properly
The microphone quality changes when you wiggle or touch the cable, or the microphone does not transmit audio at all.
The Microphone Connection Cable Is Broken
If your headset is only transmitting audio from certain microphone positions, then your connection cable may be faulty. Check out our guide on on replacing the microphone cable.
The Microphone Connection Cable Is Ripped
If your microphone connection cable is ripped open and you can see the copper on the inside of the wire, then the sound quality could be affected. Check out our guide on replacing the microphone cable.
The Headset Buttons Don’t Press Down Anymore
The headset buttons aren't pressing down, or are sticky and take a long time to pop back up.
The Button Is Damaged
If you press down the button and nothing happens, or if it doesn’t do what it’s supposed to, then your button itself may be damaged. Try powering off your device and turning it back on. If the functionality of your buttons does not change, then follow our guide to replace the microphone mute button.
There Is Dirt Buildup
Particles and dirt might build up in the sockets over time. If there is a crunching noise or feeling when you try to push the button, then there has probably been dirt buildup. Follow our guide to remove the microphone mute button cap to see if junk has accumulated in the socket. If there is debris in the socket, clean it out using compressed air.
The GameDAC Knob Doesn’t Properly Rotate
Your knob doesn’t turn anymore, or the knob is sticky.
The GameDAC Knob Is Sticky
Particles and dirt might build up in the sockets over time. If the knob doesn't rotate smoothly, then there has probably been dirt buildup. Follow our guide to replace the GameDAC knob to see if junk has accumulated in the socket. If there is debris in the socket, clean it out using compressed air.
The GameDAC Knob Is Jammed
If you are having trouble turning the volume control knob or hear clicks when rotating the knob, the mechanism may be broken. Follow our guide on replacing the GameDAC potentiometer to safely access and replace the mechanism.
The Headphones Don’t Fit Well or Are Uncomfortable
The headrest is overstretched, overcompressed, or broken.
Head Strap Is Too Tight/Loose
If your head strap is uncomfortable, it is likely that the strap is not adjusted to fit your head properly. To adjust the strap, remove the velcro tab. For a smaller fit, pull on the tab to tighten the head strap. For a larger fit, allow the strap some slack to loosen the head strap.
The Ear Cushions Are Worn Down
The headset has become uncomfortable or hard to use because the ear cushions are worn out, torn, or dirty.
Dirty Ear Pads
Dirt and particles may be building up in the ear pads. Refer to our Ear Pad Removal guide to properly remove the ear pads. To clean leather ear pads, use a warm, damp cloth and soap to wipe down any spots. For cloth ear pads, apply a damp cloth and soap, or wash the ear pads in a washing machine.
Worn/Torn Ear Pads
If your ear pads are torn, you will need to get new ear pads. Once you have the ear pads you want, take off your torn pads by pulling the edges out from around the headset. Then, put on your new ear pads by taking the elastic band of the ear pad and wrapping it around the corresponding speaker frame.

Bought the arctis pro’s (wired) about a year ago. I’ve had a great experience until the past couple months. The headset randomly restarts itself every so often. I have no clue how to fix this, but when i’m gaming it causes my whole computer to momentarily freeze up while the audio reconfigures. I”ve treated this headset with great care, and I hate to see that they’re going out on me. I’ve tried replacing all of the cords. It seems to be a problem with the amp/mixer thing. Anyone else having this problem?

My gamedac won’t turn on at all when plugged in. We’ve tried testing the cable (it works), we’ve tried using a different laptop to plug the gamdac into (that didn’t work), and we tried cleaning out the gamedac micro usb socket for debris (there wasn’t any). We also tried updating the audio driver for the steelseries gamedac/headphones and that does not seem to be the issue. The button and knob on the gamedac are clicking/turning without issue. But no matter what we do the laptop doesn’t recognize the gamedac and the lights on the gamedac won’t turn on. We have no idea what the issue could be. We don’t have any sticky residue is on it and it was not near drinks so we don’t think anything spilled on it by accident. Its just dead. Since our computers don’t have a micro-usb input we can’t even plug the headphones directly into the computer. Any recommendations?
