Poor battery life

The device dies faster and requires charging more often.

Automatic Fetching

By default, certain apps – such as Email, Twitter, and Facebook – fetch online data automatically, which uses more battery. Your device may be set to automatic fetching. To restrict apps from running in the background, change fetching from automatic to manual.

Unused widgets

You may have widgets that you do not use. By default, certain widgets are placed in your home screen. Each widget uses battery. The more widgets, the more battery consumption there will be. Remove any widgets you will not use.

Automatic brightness

The level of brightness of your device may not need to be changed automatically. The automatic brightness feature adjusts the brightness automatically, consuming more battery. To have a longer battery life, turn this feature off.

Unused wireless services

You may have certain services on that you may not need. Turning on services like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and location services requires more battery. Turn these services off when you are not using them.

High energy consumption apps

You may have high energy consumption apps running in the background that you are not using. Certain apps consume more battery than others. To check if you have one running, go to “Settings” and tap “Battery.” A lists of apps and how much battery each app uses will be displayed. Close any unused apps.

Unused apps

You may have apps running in the background. Each app uses battery. The more apps you have open, the more battery consumption there will be. To close them manually, tap the button on the bottom right and swipe them either to the left or right. To close them automatically, you can turn Stamina Mode on by going to settings, scrolling to and selecting power management. Once there, you can locate and select that option.

Battery Charged more than needed

You may be charging your phone more often than necessary. Frequently charging your phone before the 95% of the battery is used disrupts the charging and discharging flow of the capacitors in your battery. To avoid this, charge your phone only when its battery is discharged between 90% and 95%.

Faulty battery

You may have a faulty battery. To check if the battery is faulty, plug in your device. If it turns on, but does not hold charge, the battery is faulty and needs to be replaced. If you have this problem you need to replace your battery. A guide to replace the battery can be found here.

Overheating

Your phone starts to feel really warm and occasionally feels a bit unresponsive or slow.

Phone used too much or for too long

Your phone may be overused. Give your phone an hour or so of break. You can also remove the case to enable to phone to cool down.

Phone is running too many apps or processes

Make sure to turn off WiFi or Bluetooth connection when they are not in use. Disable applications that are not in use and are running in the background. Also avoid using moving wallpapers as they uses a lot the phone's operating memory.

Phone's battery is old

Your battery may be too old to operate for long periods of time. Getting new batteries may decrease significantly levels of overheating. Phone batteries should be replaced every 1-2 years. A guide to replace the battery can be found here.

LED for notifications malfunction

The notification LED isn't working properly or isn't working at all.

LED malfunction in Stamina Mode

Stamina mode disables LED notifications, so make sure to go to Settings >Power Management> turn off STAMINA mode.

LED malfunction while having ‘Back up my Data’ setting on

Backing up the phone can also cause the LEDs to not work. You can fix this by going to Settings> Backup & Reset and deselect ‘Back up my Data’ and select ‘Factory data reset.’ However, this method may cause you to lose some data.

Wi-Fi dropping/ won’t connect

There is low WiFi connectivity or sudden dropping of WiFi signal when there is a known source.

Wi-Fi won't work while in Stamina Mode

There may be a chance that the phone’s power saving mode is interfering with the WiFi connectivity. For example, Stamina Mode, cuts all connections when your device is in sleep mode. Troubleshooting and possible solutions: Make sure Bluetooth is off, as well as Stamina Mode (SETTINGS>POWER MANAGEMENT>STAMINA MODE)

Wi-Fi won't work because of a problem with router

Your device may not be responsible. It may be the router. Restart the router and phone. Then check that you have the right WiFi password and details. Turn the MAC filter off on your router and make sure you have added your phone’s MAC address. Finally, try changing the channel on your router and make sure DHCP is on

Wi-Fi won't connect to Wi-Fi without any router problems or being in Stamina Mode (Phone not up to date)

The firmware on your device may not be up to date. Make sure that you are running the latest firmware. Try Sony's PC companion for further troubleshooting.

Micro-SD not working properly

My Micro-SD card is either not read, or when it does, it displays “memory has been removed unexpectedly.”

Micro-SD card is read but isn't working

The Micro-SD card you have may not be compatible with your device. Try one from a different manufacturer.

Micro-SD card isn't being read

You purchased a Micro-SD card recommended for your device, but it is not being read by your device. Format the card on the phone itself. If it is not read by your device or computer, try SD Formatter.

Phone Camera Problems

Phone camera isn't working or the pictures are being obstructed by a broken lens or there is an obstruction in or around the lens area.

Check that there is nothing obstructing the lens of your phone. This could be your finger, phone cover which is not properly placed or some other object. If this is the case then remove object from blocking the lens area.

Broken lens or malfunctioning camera

If your lens is cracked or your lens or camera not working then you will need to replace the camera. A guide to replace the camera can be found here.

Non-functional Screen

The screen isn't working properly; it blacks out often and becomes unresponsive.

Unresponsive screen/ power button ( commonly known as "Sleep of death")

The device may have a glitch that cause screen failure. In order to fix this problem, a hard reset is usually required. However, Sony has released an Over the Air Update (OTA) to fix this problem.

Screen is Broken or Cracked

You will need to replace the screen with a new one. A guide to replace the screen can be found here.

Audio Problems

You hear unwanted sounds from the phone and the audio doesn't play very well either.

Audio problems while music is being streamed

You may have a problem with connectivity. If you are having issues, check if you have both Bluetooth and WiFi on at the same time, and if you do, disable one of them as they could be clashing with each other, resulting in your music not playing properly. Audio problems while music is played from storage

Check whether this problem occurs when you play certain songs or if it happens when you play any song. If it only happens with a few songs, then the problem may be that those song files were originally corrupted. In that case, you must delete the song files from your phone. Afterward, download them back into your phone. Make sure that the songs you download play without problem on your computer. You can be sure that the files aren't corrupt if they are downloaded from a legal, credible source. If the music files still don't work, then you may have a problem with the storage of music in your device. Faulty headphone jack

If you have this problem then you need to replace your headphone jack. A guide to replace the headphone jack can be found here .

Motherboard non-functional

The motherboard is faulty or dies so the phone won't work at all
