Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer Troubleshooting

Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer will not power on once it is plugged in. 

If the hair dryer fails to turn on after being plugged in, make sure the switch is on the correct setting. There are four settings: off, cool, low, and high. In order for the dryer to power on, place the switch on the cool, low, or high setting.

If the dryer still fails to power on after using one of the three settings: cool, low, or high, the setting dial may need to be replaced. To change the setting dial, check out the setting dial replacement guide.

After multiple attempts, if the hair dryer still does not power on, there may be a problem with the cord and plug. Before turning the hair dryer on, push the reset button on the plug. The hair dryer produces an unusual smell.

If the dryer generates a burnt scent after it is turned on, turn the switch to the off setting and unplug it from the outlet immediately. Once unplugged, allow the hair dryer to cool down for approximately five minutes, then turn it back on.

Hair dryer is extremely hot to the touch.

If the dryer overheats while it is on, there may be an issue with excess lint getting into the air inlet. When the inlet is blocked, the fan cannot blow cool air efficiently to balance the hot air being blown out. If this problem persists, refer to the air inlet replacement guide.

When the thermal cutoff switch is malfunctioning, it will most likely cause the hair dryer to overheat. Contrastingly, when the thermal cutoff switch is properly functioning, it does not allow the temperature to exceed its limit. Therefore, the thermal cutoff switch may need to be replaced.

The hair dryer is making a peculiar noise.

If the dryer is making a rattling noise while being used, there may be an issue with the propeller. You may have to either tighten the propeller, or replace it. To solve this issue you can reference our Propeller Repair guide.

The heat does not work when the dryer is turned on.

Because there are four settings: off, cool, low, and high, the dryer could be on the wrong setting. Ensure that the dryer is placed on the low or high setting instead of the cool setting.

If the dryer does not blow hot air while placed on the low or high setting, there may be an issue with the fuse. The hair dryer uses two fuses; if one of the fuses breaks, the drum may still spin, but will not diffuse hot air. Therefore, both fuses will need to be replaced simultaneously. Because the heating element allows the dryer to blow hot air, this may be the source of the problem. If the dryer fails to blow hot air after multiple attempts, the heating element most likely needs to be replaced.

The hair dryer has a limited air flow when turned on.

The lint filter is a very important aspect of the hair dryer because this filter is what purifiers all of the debris out of the air that comes through the air inlet.
