The computer doesn’t respond or do anything when the power button is pressed

The battery installed in the computer may not be charged. If the battery isn’t charged, plug in the power adapter and try turning on the computer again.

If the power adapter is plugged into the wall and the computer, but the computer is still not turning on, then the power adapter may be faulty. Consider replacing your power adapter.

If the computer will not turn on, and the battery is charged and plugged into a wall outlet with the power adapter, then there is possibly a problem with the battery. Consider replacing the computer’s battery.

The computer turns off on its own, without any direction from the user

Check the power management settings in the “Power Options Properties” in the Control Panel. If the computer’s settings are configured to automatically turn off the computer within an unreasonable amount of time, consider adjusting these settings to your liking.

Plug in the computer to an outlet with the power adapter so that the battery can be provided with charge.

If the computer is plugged in and it still turns off randomly due to low battery issues, there may be an issue with the power adapter. Consider replacing the power adapter.

If the computer’s battery has been fully charged and the computer still turns off, the battery is likely defective. Consider replacing the battery.

The computer’s display is entirely blank

The brightness setting for the display may be too low. Hold the Fn key, and then press the F6 or F7 keys to turn the display’s brightness up or down, respectively.

The display may be set for an external monitor only. To go through these settings, hold the Fn key and press the F10 key to cycle through the set display. These are the built in display, an external monitor, or both. Do this until it is set to built in display.

If no other solutions work and the display is still blank, it is possible that your display is defective. Consider replacing it with a new one.

There is an excessive amount of noise coming from the laptop

It is possible that the fan has built up dust. If you have access to a compressed air blaster, consider using it to remove any dust from the computer’s fan and other vents. Otherwise, remove and clean the fan.

The fan may need to be replaced if it has been thoroughly cleaned and is still too loud. Consider purchasing a new fan for the computer.

The computer is generating excess heat, and is hot to touch

The fan may have excessive dust buildup. Consider using a compressed air blaster to remove dust from the fan and the computers other events.

The thermal paste within the computer may either be worn out, or there may be an inadequate amount of it. Consider replacing the thermal paste found on the computer’s CPU.

The computer doesn’t make any sounds when it should, or the sounds are excessively quiet

The volume on your computer may have been silenced, or it may be too low to hear. Check that the computer’s volume setting is high enough such that is can be heard.

If any device is plugged into the computer’s headphone jack, all sound will come from that device. If there are any headphones plugged into the computer, consider using the headphones to listen to the sounds from the computer, or unplugging them.

The settings for volume control found within a given piece of software may be preventing the computer from making any noise. Use the volume keys on the keyboard to adjust sound, as this should also adjust the sound settings for a particular piece of software. If this doesn’t work, find the sound settings for whatever software or application you are using.

It is possible that the computer’s internal speakers are defective and no longer working. Consider buying new speakers and using them to replace the old ones.

The computer either does not recognize DVDs and CDs, or does not play them

The disk should be pushed down gently on the raised central circle found in the disk tray. Make sure that the disk is properly placed within the tray.

The disk tray may not have been closed entirely. When the tray closes, it should latch. Push the tray in until it latches to ensure it was closed properly.

It is possible that the disk is too dirty to read. Use a soft, non-scratching cloth and gently wipe the tray using a small, circular pattern. If this doesn’t solve the problem, consider trying a different disk and see if that one works.

The computer may be using the wrong DVD player software, or it may not have any installed at all. The computer may also be using out of date drivers. Consult the owner’s manual or the Fujitsu website to make sure that the drivers are up to date and the software is correct.

It is possible that there is a problem with the disk reader. Consider purchasing a new disk drive and replacing the old one.

The RAM listed by the computer does not match up with the amount it should have

Make sure the RAM is properly installed so the computer can detect it. This is especially true if the RAM was upgraded recently.

One, or both, of the RAM cards may be defective. Consider purchasing compatible RAM types to replace the old ones. It may even be possible to upgrade to higher RAM, depending on how much memory the system can have.

The computer’s keyboard has keys that are getting stuck, keys that are unresponsive, or is unresponsive as a whole.

If only individual keys are getting stuck or are unresponsive, consider removing and thoroughly cleaning them. It is also possible that something foreign to the computer is physically obstructing the key from being raised back up after being pushed. In this case, clear the obstruction.

If the whole keyboard is not responding, it is possible that it is defective. Consider replacing the keyboard with a new one.
