No Display on Screen

Your display screen should show you information such as incoming calls, waiting calls, missed calls, as well as date and time of missed calls. If you are unable to see any of the features listed above, you may have a problem with your display screen .

Dead Batteries

If you cannot see anything displaying on the screen, it may be due to

dead batteries. Replacing the four existing AA batteries may solve this problem. Refer to "ATT CL2940 Batteries Replacement Guide" for more details on how to do so.

Bad Connection Between Telephone and Wall Jack

If batteries are not the issue, the problem may be due to a bad connection between the telephone and wall jack. Power is drawn from the phone line, so make sure that both ends of the phone line are secured in both the phone jack in the wall and in the handset. If the jack is not working, refer to ''ATT_CL2940 Phone Jack Replacement'' for replacing jack.

Broken Screen

If the above two situations are solved and the screen is still not displaying, the problem may be due to the screen itself. Replacing the screen can solve this problem. Replacing broken screen is a technical and complex work, please contact your provider to fix it.

Numbers dialed are not showing up on the screen

While dialing a number, you should be able to see the numbers being dialed on the display and hear a tone in your headset. If that does not happen, you might have a problem with your keypad.

Dead Batteries

This telephone operates during a power failure if a telephone line cord is

plugged into the telephone wall jack and the telephone base. But you cannot see anything displaying on the screen. You are able to answer calls with the handset, and make calls using the dialing keys. No other features work unless batteries are installed. Refer to "ATT CL2940 Batteries Replacement Guide" for more details on how to do so.

Broken Buttons

When you click the button and do not see the numbers appear on the screen or can hear a tone, it may because the buttons used for dialing are broken. Replacing broken buttons can solve this problem. Refer to "ATT CL2940 Buttons and/or Keypad Replacement" for more details on how to do so.

The person on the other line cannot hear you or you cannot hear them

If you are unable to hear the person talking on the other line or they cannot hear you despite redialing or restarting the phone, you may have a problem with your handset.

Check Cord Connection

The problem might be due to poor connection between the headset and the phone itself. Ensure that the cord is securely connected at both ends. If the cord is connected, and the problem has not been fixed, you need to replace the cord. Refer to the "ATT CL2940 Handset Cord Replacement" for more details on how to do so.

Check Handset

If the problem still persists, it is due to an issue with the handset itself. Check the status of the speaker inside the handset. Refer to the "ATT CL2940 Headset Speaker Replacement" for further information.

No sound emits when phone is set to loudspeaker mode

If you put your phone on loudspeaker mode and you are unable to hear anything. You have a problem with your speakers.

Check Volume Level

After ensuring the device is turned on, make sure that the volume is not muted and the volume level is to an appropriate level.

Check Speakers

If your volume level is all the way up and you still can't hear any sounds, this might be due to an issue with the speaker. Replacing the speaker should solve this problem. Refer to the "ATT CL2940 Speakerphone Replacement".

Phone Book Issues

Your phone should be able to store up to 65 numbers and names in the phone book memory. There is a problem if your saved numbers disappear from your phone book or you are no longer able to store additional numbers.

Check Memory Capacity

If your phone can no longer save more numbers, this can be because you have reached the full memory capacity. To solve this problem you will have to delete unwanted numbers from your phone book. Refer to "AT&T Corded Telephone User Manual" for more details on how to do so. The related content is on pages 20-24.

Without Installing Batteries or Telephone Line Immediately

If you neither install batteries nor a telephone line, after a few minutes, the

telephone clears the directory, caller ID history, speed dial memory, and the

last number dialed memory. Your saved numbers disappear may due to this reason. Please be quick when you are replacing batteries or a telephone line.
