Have you tried pressing the Volume Up key during a call to check if that improves the volume on a call?

If that fails to improve the reception on a call, try using the earphones with the microphone attachment to see if you can hear better on a call. This is to check whether there is a problem with the reception circuits in the phone or if the phone’s receiver is faulty
