bubbylady, The very delicate gears that drive/extend the lens may have become worn, out of alignment or damaged and the lens assy. may need to be replaced. I will post a guide below to show how the lens can be accessed so you can check it out and replace if needed. If not wanting to do the trouble shooting/repair your self have a good local camera shop have a look and estimate repair, as the repair is listed as very difficult. Good luck.
