Free the AC power connector from its slot in the lower case and the black and white power wires from their guide posts (see picture).

Lift the upper case slightly and slide it far enough for the circuit board to clear the metal mounting plate on the lower case.

Separate the two case pieces as if opening a book.

It may be necessary to get more slack in the battery wires by feeding them further through the battery box.
