Repair guides, support, and troubleshooting information for MacBook Air models with 13-inch displays.

Making A Keyboard Replacement Guide...

I am going to replace 4 keyboard on 4 MB Air Models I have noticed there is actually no guide on how to do this. There are many steps involved so:

Question 1: Can I simply copy everything from an existing guide to use as a kind of template, and just add the missing steps creating a new guide?

Question 2: As this will cover all A1369 A1370 A1465 & A1466 models how or where to add the guide? As many other models where the process will be somewhat different or even not possible at all. Do I copy the guide to every model that it is applicable to (6x MacBook Air 11" models 2010-15 & 7x MacBook Air 13" models 2010-2017)?.

Question 3: 2013/14/15 13" models use the same guide for MacBook Air 13" Mid 2013 Logic Board Replacement / MacBook Air 13" Early 2014 Logic Board Replacement / MacBook Air 13" Early 2015 Logic Board Replacement, but 2017 does not have one added even though it is the exact same layouts. So, Q3 is how to copy a complete guide to add it there, thus completing the guides for that particular years model as imo it makes perfect sense to add it.

I am hoping @krisrodriguez can provide.an answer to all 3 questions, thanks in advance.

Note: You cannot replace a macbook keyboard newer than 2012 - the keyboard is held in with steel rivets which are near impossible to remove without damaging the top case of the laptop

The only possible way to remove it is ripping it out, which usually damaged the top case, and only removes the head of the rivets, leaving the thread stuck in place

The best way to replace the keyboard is replace both keyboard AND top case, then it's possible

Sorry but this is VERY incorrect as I have successfully done this MANY times before and have a very reliable method on how to do it perfectly, hence I want to provide the guides.

@livfe really? cos my 2013 macbook pro is riveted, maybe in other countries

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

@aadamomar Yes they are riveted and you have to 'rip' them out, but there is a way to do it without bending the top case, and then using a flat edged tool simply punch out the rivets leaving the exact sized hole for the screws ;)

@aadamomar The 'answer' completely wrecks the question as it has nothing to do with making guides., sorry.
