Hello,
I swapped my Mac‘s battery. When I turn on my Mac (with the original cable) it turns the fan on full speed and there is an X on the battery icon. Coconut battery shows no information. I installed another data cable for the Mac and it’s still the same behavior.
Is the data cable this weak? I was very careful while disabling it.

Do I need a little bit of force to put the cable into the connector or is it fine to move it in softly?
I just moved it in slightly (where you can only see a little bit of the connectors yellow end) and closed the lid / ZIF connector. I can’t imagine to destroy or have two defective battery data cables. I hope the connector in the logic boards isn’t defective.
@ak2025 - If the latched you don’t want to force the cable in, if the latch is in the released condition you don’t need any force.
Think of a letter fitting into an envelope sliding it in squarely, that’s about all the force you would need at most.
These cables are easy to damage, even I’ve killed one.
