Epson l220 burns transistors without the print head even connected, the power IC is ok. I took out the transistors and its working now even connected the head but it won't print anything and the papaer and ink light turns on. I have cleaned it and the paper and ink is ready and full. Any one has any idea why it isn't printing?

It may just be an issue with the flex cables, especially if they look physically damaged beyond the standard bends; those things can even cause grief when they look good. That said since it's blowing them out when the printhead isn't connected, the power supply or mainboard is gonna be suspect here.
Not worth fixing. Dump the printer and move to something else. This will cost more to fix then it costs to replace.

They sell printers at a loss just to get you hooked on their ink cartridges. It's really not worth repairing. The printer companies are now coming out with ones that have refillable cartridges but some are scams and I am trying everyday to find a printer that's legit. Maybe @nick knows more than I do.

Even the bulk ink inkjets are scammy on the low end of the range (CMYK). They clog and you lose the bulk ink in cleanings/printer disposal, and have the same issues with the WIC disabling the printer with 50% of your bulk ink left. I would rather throw away a large toner cartridge and change a waste toner bottle (and spend $400 to replace all 4 toners) on my Lexmark color laser then deal with another basic inkjet again. I even gave up on HP after the toner DRM garbage. When I cannot find M401's without a high PC, I'm moving to either a large color laser with a big black toner or a Lexmark monochrome. At least my C3326 lets me override the levels unlike older color lasers so I can run it as long as the output works for me and sneak another 50-100 pages out!
I gave up on basic inkjet years ago and went to laser/color laser for everyday stuff. If I need an inkjet it's for things like photo printing where you have 6+ colors.
@nick thanks for the input. Unfortunately a customer twisted my arm and bought my Brother mono laser printer and I have not found a replacement for it yet. It worked great for me for 5 years.
@mayer HP's a DRM mess now with HP+ and DS. I'm done with them. A lot of the HP CLJ's are Canon engines anyway so I'd also buy a Canon if I had to.
Lexmark has some I like, but the toner is hard to find in retail unlike HP and Canon (online only, basically), but that's also true of enterprise machines you can score with very few pages for nearly nothing like Xerox. If you buy toner online (like most people do) it doesn't matter; just make sure you get the one with the 40k imaging drum (some are higher, so check and see). It's not much more compared to the Lexmarks with the lesser drums.
If it was a space issue and I got a color unit with a large black toner, Lexmark CS or Canon with large black toner. For mono, I'd look at a single function Lexmark for simplicity so I don't need to worry about where to buy supplies; I would know where to look. These bulk ink inkjets are such a joke they're less reliable for the price, yet you can buy something like the B3442dw for $380, or the C3426 for $475... Similar prices. That's why I can't stand ANY of these bulk ink CMYK units.
