2013 Mac Pro randomly powers off

Good afternoon everyone..

I recently picked up a nicely configured late 2013 Mac Pro that is having an issue I can't seem to resolve.

Machine configuration is as follows:

8 core/16 thread Xeon processor

64 GB ECC RAM

1 TB SSD

2 AMD FirePro D500 GPUs with 3 GB vRAM each

4 USB 3 ports

6 Thunderbolt 2 ports

2 GB Ethernet ports

Problem is it'll be running along just fine, and then for no apparent reason, it will just power off. If I hit the power button, it will come back up like normal and run fine. Sometimes it will go several days without doing this, and other times it will do it a couple of times a day. Do you have any idea what may be wrong? Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks, and have a great weekend.

There are two possibilities. The first is the system is just going into sleep mode. A quick hit to the keyboard, trackpad, mouse or power button should wake the system (not restart).

If the system restarts then you likely hit a crash event. Make sure your apps are up to date for your version of macOS.

You may need to review the crash files Tutorial: An introduction to reading Mac OS X crash reports

You might want to run the onboard diagnostics as well. Restart your system and press the D key to enter

Good afternoon,

Thank you for your response. It is definitely powering off, and not just going to sleep. To get it to come pack up, I have to press the power button. I've run Apple's diagnostics, and it reports everything is fine. I'm going through apps now to make sure they are all up to date.
