Camera Replacement/No Camera Detected A1708

Does anyone know if you need to replace the entire display to install a new webcam or if the display can be separated and a new iSight camera be slotted in? If you can slot in a new one, does anyone have any recommendations on where to get a new one/genuine OEM part?

Apple doesn’t offer the camera as a replaceable unit. Sadly only the full display assembly is offered.

If you can find a broken screen you might be able to salvage the camera from it to put into your display. I’ll worn you this is not something I would attempt for a first time repair, and I wouldn't even try it my self as the risk of failure is very high given the degree of difficulty.
