Mac reboots half way to the booting screen - force to hold space bar

Hello,

if anyone can help?

I have a MacBook Air that keeps shutting down half way through the boot process. I am forced to press the spacebar and hold or tape it down in order for the laptop to boot.

I am thinking could be the power button stuck or something but I tried cleaning and nothing.

any ideas how I could fix it?

thanks,

Did you have a liquid spill at some point into the keyboard or trackpad?

Hi Dan,

Yeah the wife drop some liquid. I actually disconnected the keyboard and it works.

Is there any way to clean the keyboard or is something I need to replace ?

Its a bit of work! You can replace the keyboard MacBook Air 13" (Late 2010) Keyboard or if you don’t want to go that deep the easier way is just replace the full uppercase MacBook Air 13" (Late 2010) Upper Case with Keyboard iFixit is currently out of stock but its so much easier!

In either case you’ll need to strip the system down following this guide MacBook Air 13" Late 2010 Upper Case Replacement

my suggestion is a replace of the case that includes the keyboard.

or if it an older one that the keyboard is a separate part number - that is fine.
