1

Open the hood to access the battery. Disconnect the negative cable to isolate the electrical power.

2

Open the driver's side door for more room to remove the ignition switch. The switch is located on the steering column.

3

Unscrew the shroud around the steering column with a Phillips head screwdriver. Pull the shroud out from around the steering column once it is loosened.

4

Locate the switch by the ignition lock. The switch will be screwed into the column.

5

Pull the wires out of the back of the switch by hand. The wiring harness will have locking tabs that must be pulled out to separate it from the switch.

6

Unscrew the switch from the column with the Phillips head screwdriver. Pull the switch out of the column.

7

Place the new switch where the old one was located. Screw the switch to the column with the Phillips head screwdriver.

8

Push the wiring harness into the back of the switch. Push in the wiring harness until it locks into place.

9

Fasten the shroud back around the steering column. Tighten the screws with the Phillips head screwdriver.

10

Connect the negative cable on the battery with a line wrench. Ensure both cables on the battery are tight.

11

Start the truck to ensure the ignition switch is functioning correctly.
