Open the hood to access the battery. Disconnect the negative cable to isolate the electrical power.

Open the driver's side door for more room to remove the ignition switch. The switch is located on the steering column.

Unscrew the shroud around the steering column with a Phillips head screwdriver. Pull the shroud out from around the steering column once it is loosened.

Locate the switch by the ignition lock. The switch will be screwed into the column.

Pull the wires out of the back of the switch by hand. The wiring harness will have locking tabs that must be pulled out to separate it from the switch.

Unscrew the switch from the column with the Phillips head screwdriver. Pull the switch out of the column.

Place the new switch where the old one was located. Screw the switch to the column with the Phillips head screwdriver.

Push the wiring harness into the back of the switch. Push in the wiring harness until it locks into place.

Fasten the shroud back around the steering column. Tighten the screws with the Phillips head screwdriver.

Connect the negative cable on the battery with a line wrench. Ensure both cables on the battery are tight.

Start the truck to ensure the ignition switch is functioning correctly.
