Why is the downhill light on the dash lit on?

i had this issue, solved it by changing the switch on the clutch pedal. Not the easy access one but the one tucked up high and difficult to get to. the switch is about £40 form Kia. Took 20 mins to fit

You will fine the speed control would not be working at the same time

Also Replaced the top clutch switch on my 2015 Kia Sportage and the issue was resolved.

Hi,

Have you pressed the Downhill Brake Control switch on the dash to see if the light goes out?

The following image is taken from the 2012 Kia Sportage owner manual. (You didn't state the model year so the switch may be in a different location)

If operating and releasing the switch makes no difference and you have traveled faster than 40 m.p.h. and the light is still on, then the DBC system may be faulty. Take it to a dealer and get it checked out.

Hi,

If the dealer can't fix it (or doesn't know how to) contact Kia in your country and ask what the problem could be or contact another dealer.

They should have the service manuals and equipment to diagnose what the problem is, more than anyone else.

Got the same problem I’m aggravated with this crap I’m gonna change the switch and wheel sensors from there if nothing take it to the mechanic

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Well it turned out to be a faulty led brake light triggered that crap I would of never thought that it was a bulb smh 🤦

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Before eventually finding out it was a led bulb I changed the brake switch I did a four wheel brake job and I bought the wheel sensors didn’t put em in but it was next my wife said have our friend he own a shop so I dropped it off and ALSO MY BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD BE STUCK ON MY WHEN HEAD LIGHTS WERE ON AND THE KITTLE RED LIGHT CAME ON SO IT WAS A FAULTY LED BRAKE LIGHT BULB

Hi @ chris mc millan

Here’s some images taken from the iX35 owner manual that explains how to use the DBC (Downhill Brake Control) and how it can be manually activated etc.

If it isn’t manually enabled by you operating the switch then you need to take it to a dealer as they should have the service manuals and equipment to diagnose what the problem is.
