Yes both are!
First you may want to review the system specs: Apple - Mac Pro
Here's one source for the RAM & SSD's (Other World Computing):

Hello
I'd like to upgrade the SSD on my similar Mac Pro but unwilling to pay that much (see link above)
Are there compatible 500 gb SSD's for this machine that might be less expensive?
thanks

I don't think you'll find much that is larger for an internal SSD unit thats cheaper than this: OWC 1TB SSD Upgrade kit. OWC doesn't offer anything smaller. You might find a used drive on eBay or Amazon. Just remember to make sure you can return it and you use a credit card which offers some protection.
Maybe an external solution would be better for you. Maybe something like this: OWC Mercury Elite Pro Dual with your own SSD's

Most Solid State Drives will work in a Mac Pro tower with the appropriate adapter. I've seen the adapters at various vendors and the prices on them vary widely. Look for something with good reviews at a reasonable price point and then hunt down a drive that suits your needs within your budget.

Oops, I missed that you were talking about the new Donut Mac Pro. I am not sure what your options are there.
