Screen popped out on the top right corner

I just noticed that my 5C's screen popped out of the plastic chassis on the top right corner. The phone was put in an Otter Box by the salesman the day I bought it and it was never dropped seriously (from my lap on a carpet once or twice, but no more than that).

I've read somewhere that putting it on a flat surface and pressing on the back until it clicks back into place might work, but I'm scared it could break something, especially if it's battery problem (like some macbooks I've seen)

What do you think?

I did my research on this and stumble upon this forum where they suggest to press hard the back of the phone on a flat surface which I did without hesitation and presto! it worked! my phone working fine as if nothing has happened to it.

Hi Trish, you got lucky. Sometimes this is due to a swelling of the battery. Pushing back will break the screen. Pushing things back when doing iPhones repair is the first thing I learned NEVER to do. Everything should fit in place. In this particular case, screen should be lifted, iPhone examined, then if nothing suspect is detected, screen can be fitted back. It takes 2 minutes and poses no risk.

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

How should I lift the screen?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Hi Shania, follow this guide to learn how to lift/remove the screen of the iPhone 5C. It also has links to the needed tools. If you reach Step 9, be extra careful with the position of those screws. On some iPhone models, mixing those up can kill your iPhone! This guide basically applies to iPhones 5, 5C, 6, 6+. iPhone 5S is a bit different because of the Home Button flat cable that you must watch out for when lifting the screen. You can find a separate guide for each of those models if you browse iFixit repair guides.

I dropped my iPhone 5C from about a four foot height by accident and the top left corner of my screen popped out, it was still working but the screen would not go back in. I read several different sites and most said put against a flat screen and push until you hear a click, however some said don't do it as it might break but I took the chance and CLICK it was fixed. No need for a £50+ repair result!! #TAKE A CHANCE

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

My iPhone SE was having the same issue, the right corner seems to be pooped out. I read the advice on pushing it back in on a flat surface, and it worked! the screen is back in its place and it seems as if nothing had happened. Screw the 50 dollar fix at the apple store.

Today I drop my iPhone 5c on the stairs and the top right corner of the screen starting to pop out. So I pressed on it with my thumbs and now it's perfectly fine!! It's still works great and nothing is wrong with it..

See we understand how this works for you, but just like Blaise Bernier, the person who asked this question, my phone was not dropped but suddenly has the screen popping out. This is because of the battery swelling up and needing extra space. This extra space was taken from the screen, therefore the popping out. If Blaise or I were to attempt to pop the screen back, there would be no space for it to go, therefore the screen breaking. So you must understand that your problem and Blaise Bernier´s problems are different, and that his problem is a lot more complicated and must be taken to the proffesionals, not be ¨popped back.¨

crwdns2934285:0crwdne2934285:0

it should pop back in, however i have seen ones that went in for a screen repair before and a rogue loose screw (usually the long one for the LCD shield) would have worked its way out and into a crevice at the top right corner, thus preventing it pushing back in. There is a chance that by putting pressure on it that it may crack but usually they are fine .

i always open them up first to check but i understand everyone can not do that

Hey guys,

Yesterday I had dropped my iPhone 6 in concrete floor so hard with strong bumper case around the mobile. Bumper case had protected my iPhone by observing all the major impacts though side of the screen has popped out little. I just pushed it back softly. Now my iPhone is working fine without any issues or heat.

It was very little pop out so without second though pushed it back.

Others pls be careful depending on the situation you come across.

crwdns2944067:02crwdne2944067:0:

that's what happened to mine, but now i'm scared to drop it ever again in case it happens again and gets worse

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

yeah, better use any strong protection case if u dont want to spend further for your mobile.

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

crwdns2934285:0crwdne2934285:0

The battery is inflating because u are maybe charging it to much that is why it's only in that one spot

crwdns2934105:0crwdne2934105:0

If you would attempt to push on the screen to get in back into place, you are risking cracking the screen or even breaking the clips that hold the screen to the frame. It is best if you remove the two screws flanking each side of the lightning port and open the phone up and PROPERLY seat the screen as it originally was. Also take some time to ensure the battery has not expanded. Hope it helps!

It might be because of swelling of battery, whatever, Apply some super-sticky adhesive in market and stick it,Be careful while applying..Make sure you use only a tiny drop.

This did the job for me.

crwdns2934105:0crwdne2934105:0

the 5c's chassis is quite flexible so it should pop back in fine, all other models require you to remove the screen and re seat it properly.

Hi I dropped my iPhone 5c (back down) on the hard floor and thought it was fine until I realised the left hand corner had popped out . I've heard that popping it back in has worked for a lot of people but I'm not sure weather I should just go to my local phone repair shop and get them to do it properly ,for free . However until then my screen is at risk of getting damaged because its sticking out . What do I do ?
