Speakers do not emit sound
I plugged the headset in, but I do not hear sound from one or both of the speakers.
Volume is too low
The volume for the headset may be set to the lowest setting. You will hear no sound if the volume setting is at “0”. Turn up the volume by pressing the volume increase button on the right side of the adapter.
Game/Chat balance needs to be adjusted
The headset adapter allows you to change the balance between the sound you hear from the game and the sound from the chat room you are currently in. If the balance is set to 100% for the game and 0% for the chat, you will only hear audio from the game you are playing and not the chat (and vice versa). You can change the game and chat balance by pressing the buttons on the left side of the adapter.
Firmware needs to be updated
The Xbox One controller’s firmware needs to be updated to be compatible with the headset adapter. The Xbox Support website provides instructions for how to do this.
Headset is incorrectly connected to the adapter
The headset may not be firmly connected to the adapter. This interference may prevent the headset from playing sound in one or both speakers. Disconnect the headset from the adapter, and reconnect it again.

Speakers are not functioning correctly
If the above solutions do not work, then the speakers may be broken and may need to be replaced.
Headset microphone does not pick up sound
When I speak into the microphone, no one online can hear my voice.
Mute settings need to be changed
The mute setting may be on. This deactivates the headset microphone, preventing it from picking up sound. Turn off the mute function by pressing the mute button on the headset adapter.
Firmware needs to be updated
The Xbox One controller’s firmware needs to be updated to be compatible with the headset adapter. The Xbox Support website provides instructions for how to do this.
Microphone is not functioning correctly
If the solutions above do not solve this issue, the microphone may need to be replaced.
Speakers are emitting feedback
I hear this loud buzzing/beeping sound in my headphones that keeps getting louder.
Volume is too high
The speaker volume may be set too high. This may cause noise from the speakers to be picked up by the microphone which will loop back to the speakers causing feedback. Turn down the volume by pressing the volume control button on the right side of the adapter.
Chat room is producing feedback
One person in your chat room may be transmitting his or her feedback problems to the rest of the chat room. Ask the one who is transmitting feedback to check his or her headphones, or mute that person in the chat room menu.
Headset-Adapter is connected incorrectly
The headset may not be firmly connected to the adapter. This slight interference may cause excessive noise feedback. Disconnect the headset from the adapter, and reconnect it again.
Adapter-Controller is connected incorrectly

TV volume is still on when headset is connected
I connected my headset to my controller, but there is still sound coming from my TV
TV settings need to be changed
The sound from your TV does not automatically mute when you plug the headset into your controller. You can lower the volume or mute your TV without affecting the sound coming from the headset speakers.
Adapter buttons are unresponsive
When I press the buttons on the adapter, nothing happens.
Adapter-Controller is connected incorrectly
The adapter may not be firmly connected to the Xbox One controller. This interference may prevent the input from the adapter buttons from transmitting to the controller. Disconnect the adapter from the controller, and reconnect it again.

Adapter buttons are broken
If the solutions above do not resolve this issue, the buttons on the adapter may be broken and may need to be replaced.
If the provided solutions do not solve the issue, there may be a problem with the Xbox controller.
Controller's batteries are low
The controller will not provide power to the headset if it has low battery life. Make sure to charge the controller before use.

I just bought a new stereo headset 3 hours ago, and I'm already having issues. The little adapter that plugs into the controller does hook up very well. I figured out if I squeeze it I to the controller with one hand I can play with the other. But if I don't hold it I. After about 5-10 button/joystick uses it wiggles out and routes all sound back through my tv. Push it back in tight again and presto headset works again. Not sure if it was just poor workmanship, or my controller which supported the standard chat headset with no issues for 2 years until I upgraded today??? I will be returning it first thing tomorrow.

So when I plug my headset into my xbox1 controller all the way it will not play sound in my right ear but when I pull it out a little it will work perfectly. My headset works awesome on other things like my other controller and my phone but not my wired controller. So I have to pull it out about a fourth of the way to use it but it was just working normally and I didn't have to pull it out a little to use it, is there any way to fix this or maybe is it the controller adapter plug in spot? Please I need help with this

My headphones work fine, the problem is that I'm getting audio through my headphones and TV at the same time...and I have no way to adjust my headphone audio...there has got to be a better solution than muting my TV...

I have the new xbox one controller that dosent need an adapter so my headset is connected streight into the controller so I can hear chat and game sound through my mic and my TV . how can I stop game sound coming through my mic?
Keenan - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Go to settings> Sound > there you can toggle how loud you want the chat volume vs the game volume. If that option isn’t available then you must be able to toggle on your actual mic. Click party chat all the way until it makes a beep…your game volume will then be muted.

I was trying to talk with one of my friends on a party but it kept muting both of us, we checked the settings and nothing worked. We also restarted the XBOX ONE but that had no effect. Then once we used my father’s controller AND his profile, it worked. I still can’t figure out how to get my profile to except the XBOX ONE mic, but I really hope one of you can help me out.
