Boom 2 Not Producing Any Sound
The speaker is turned on but is not producing any sound.
Low Speaker Volume
Check if the volume on the speaker is too low to hear by pressing the “+” button multiple times
Low Device Volume
Check to see if the volume on your bluetooth device is turned off. If unsure, try turning up the volume via the volume buttons on the side of the device or the volume slider on the display of the device.
Bluetooth Connection
Insure that your device is properly connected to the speaker by checking your Bluetooth Pairing.
Speaker Will Not Turn On
After pressing the power button for the proper amount of time, the speaker does not turn on properly.
Not Properly Charged
When attempting to turn on the speaker, if the power button blinks red or says ‘Critical Battery’, this indicates the battery is not charged enough to operate. Plug the speaker in using the given cable and power brick to charge most efficiently, approximately 3-4 hours. Plugging into a laptop or similar device will also charge the speaker, but will charge at a severely reduced rate.
Battery Requires Replacement
Battery’s have a lifespan, if the battery is not holding a charge (i.e. states it is fully charged and lasts no where near the 13-15 hours operating time). Replacement of the battery may be required, refer to our battery replacement guide.
Water Damage
Although the speaker boasts an IPX7 Waterproof rating, manufacturing errors happen. If the speaker is unresponsive to charging and battery replacement, then the circuits in the speaker could be fried. Refer to our motherboard and D-ring replacement guides.
Speaker Will Not Charge
The Speaker is plugged in, but will not charge.
Loose Connection
If your cable is poorly connected to the charging adapter or device it will not charge. Additionally check if the charging adapter is properly connected to the wall socket. Disconnect and reconnect everything to ensure proper connection.
Charging Cable or Adapter Needs Replacing
Charging adapters and cables can fail at times. To check if they have failed test them on other micro usb powered devices. Alternatively, test other similarly rated charging adapters and cables with the Boom 2. Replacement cables and adapters can be purchased directly from Ultimate Ears.
Battery Needs Replacing
Batteries are consumable and eventually cease to store a charge. If none of the other solutions resolved your charging issue the problem may be the battery. Refer to our battery replacement guide.
Speaker is Not Pairing With Device
The UE Boom 2 is not connecting to my device via Bluetooth, the speaker is not working properly, and/or my speaker is not playing music.
Incorrect Bluetooth Pairing Settings on Your Device
Check and make sure that Bluetooth pairing is enabled on the device you are trying to pair to the speaker. Select the UE Boom 2 from the list of devices, and make sure the UE Boom 2 is ready to be paired with by pressing the Bluetooth button on the speaker (see next problem).
UE Boom 2 is not ready to pair with Your Device
Make sure your speaker is in pairing mode by pressing and holding the Bluetooth pairing button on your speaker above the power button until the speaker makes a sound. The Bluetooth LED light will begin to blink once this has happened.
Device is not within Range of the Speaker
The distance of your device to the speaker could be the reason it is not connecting. Try moving the device you are trying to connect closer to the speaker and attempt to connect.
Factory Reset Needed
If all else fails, try resetting the speaker to its factory default settings by following these steps:
- Hold down the “volume down” and “power” button at the same time until you hear a sound. The UE Boom 2 will then turn off.
- Turn the speaker back on and attempt to pair it with your device again..
UE Boom 2 Phone App Not Functioning
The application is not connecting with the speaker and/or it keeps crashing.
The App is Not Up to Date
Make sure the version of the UE Boom 2 App running on your device is the current version. Go to the App Store/Google Play Store on your device and check for any updates. If there is an update, install it, and reattempt to connect the app to your speaker.
App Keeps Crashing At Launch
If two devices are connected to the speaker at once, launching the app may cause it to crash. To fix this, disconnect both devices paired with your speaker and only reconnect the one you desire to play music from.
“Double-Up” Feature Not Working
Two Boom speakers will not play music at the same time.
Bluetooth is Disabled
The UE “Double-Up” feature requires bluetooth connections between the device and the two speakers. Make sure bluetooth is enabled on all devices and that they are in range of each other.
Speakers Are Not Running the Same Firmware
Pairing issues may be caused by differences in firmware. To ensure the same firmware, connect the speakers to your smartphone and install the latest firmware by going to the Boom app, tapping on “More”, checking for updates and downloading them.
“Double-Up” Not working With Boom App
If you cannot get “Double-Up” to work with the app, follow these steps to manually double-up:
- Bluetooth pair your device to the first speaker.
- Turn on the second speaker.
- Press the + volume button and Bluetooth button at the same time on the first speaker. (A tone should confirm that it is ready.)
- Press the Bluetooth button twice on the second speaker.
- A final tone should confirm that it is trying to double-up, and that it has succeeded.

my ue turns on and i can hear the music at a low volume but when i try to turn up the volume the speaker cackles real loud
tom westfall - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Same here, the music falters at a certain volume.
When it’s at 10% its fine music plays nut higher then 20% and you get bits and pieces.
RLI Edit -
same here. Did you find a solution?
ajnewell25 -
I’ve been using this with my phone and pc, both of which produced great sound. All of a sudden, when I switched from my phone to my pc today as the source, the music quality get terrible. When I use my phone, the speaker goes back to sounding great. Nothing I have done has helped. Any ideas what’s causing this?
Nick - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Did you get a solution Nick? My speaker will only stay connected to my Mac if I have the bluetooth settings window open now - yep weird!!!! Fine via my phone tho. Would appreciate any suggestions

My speaker has completely stopped pairing with both my Macbook and iphone. I did a factory reset, and none of the other options in this help list apply. It doesn’t show up as an available speaker on either device, and the speaker’s bluetooth light is consistently flashing.

Did either of you ever resolve this? I’m having the same issue. Does this mean the Bluetooth is busted?

The “double up” fix it directions don’t do it for me. Both speakers have up to date firmware. Both speakers are Bluetooth paired with my iphone. I follow the directions. While the two speakers will swap the tune, they both won’t simultaneously play. What’s up with that?
Ford Greene - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Having the same problem. I have gone through the process more times than I can count. I have tried doubling up using my phone and my PC. I have checked multiple times for firmware updates, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, disconnected and reconnected speakers…. When I go through the process, both lights blink rapidly on the speakers, but nothing happens.
My kids bought me my first ue boom for a fathers day gift years ago. Afterwards, I purchased a megaboom, followed by ue boom 3 and ue megaboom 3. I love these speakers but now my daughters are talking about purchasing me a hyperboom for this father’s day. I have told them absolutely not until logitech gets their act together.

My speaker is on and connected with volume up on both the speaker and phone but I can’t hear any sound coming out of the speaker. I can’t even hear the default noises like the power on, power off, and pairing noises even after factory resetting it.
Thereal Boy - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Why you say resetting to factory mode is bad? Because my UE boom wont pair unless I do a factory reset, So what can I do instead, Is there a way to reset it with USB or something so that It works like when it was new? because at fist it was really easy to pair the bluetood and now it´s a pain.
Thanks
Diego Mestre Cam - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
My speaker stopped producing sound at all. It still connects to my phone and the light blinks whn i plug in the micro usb, so it is able to charge. I have downloaded the app to update the firmware and have performed a factory reset as well, but the speaker is still unable to produce any sound at all (not when connecting to any device, and no sound when i turn it on or search for a device). My speaker was working great up until this point, and I’m not sure what would have caused it. It stopped producing sound mid-song despite still being connected, and I have been unable to get it working since

colin.liau - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Blue light is blue tooth trying to find pairing, red probably means you need a new batt, or it's got a faulty line in the circuit, green means its fully charged or same as red

Something happened with a recent update to the app. Now Party-Up doesn’t work. Even though both speakers are connected via bluetooth, and one is playing, when you go into party-up to find the remaining speaker, it shuts off the one that was working and can’t find the other. Sure, the app isn’t very good, but it’s all I have. Please fix this…..

Where is customer service? Should I return the speaker and go with a different brand? I spent a lot of money so she would have something decent and it turned out to be a piece of crap! By the looks of all these people having the same problem, I would have to say that it is a faulty piece of equipment and should be recalled!

I have the UE Boom 2 and have been using with my phone the Samsung S8+ for a couple years now and love it. I just upgraded my phone to the Samsung Note S20Plus 5G and it will not pair. Keeps saying I need an app. I have the most up to date app on my phone and when I try to pair, it even says previously paired with Samsung S8+. I paired it with my work phone that is a Note 9 with no problem. What is the problem?
Cathy Alexander - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
I have since spoken to Samsung and the problem is the speaker is too old and will not pair with the newer system running on the newer Note phone. I did pair it with my work phone that is a Note 10. So, if you upgrade your phone to a Note S20 Plus you will also need to upgrade your speakers if you want to use with your phone.

If the Bluetooth light on your UE Boom 2 is flashing rapidly but the speaker won’t connect - try this. Find the UE Boom on your Bluetooth connection list. Instead of pressing the connect button again delete the entry. When UE Boom appears on the list again it should have a Pair button or option next to it. This time the UE Boom should be recognised and start playing again. The system just needs a gentle push to sort itself out…

Mine turns on, but won’t pair with ANY device. Holding down the Bluetooth button produces no results, no flashing or illumination. Just nothing. Tried the factory reset, and hold down the power and - button. It just turns off. No sound to indicate it reset. Turn it back on, and the power button is illuminated like normal, but the bluetooth button still doesn’t work and is not visible on ANY device. I tried the NFC connection, and am able to get my phone to attempt to pair with the speaker, which always fails. I believe these devices are defective because my extended family bought three of these.. not one of them works properly.

Idk if anyone else is having the same issue, but I've barely used my ue boom2 and it went from having excellent battery life to being charged at %80-%100 and dying within an hour. I've never over charged or abused it. Some times I can plug it in and “jump start it", and after charging for 5 minutes it will turn back on, but then it dies after an hour or less again, even though it says %80 charge when I hold down both volume buttons. I tried the factory reset, multiple times, which worked to fix my original ue boom battery life. But there again I started having the same glitch with my old one, where I would have to Jump start it to get it to turn on. I loved these speakers but it seems like they have some built in defects that ue needs to resolve. I feel like my original boom, latest way longer before messing up then the boom2 did. Any ideas anyone?

My speaker doesn't charge anymore. I tried with various cables, sockets, adapter, it won't take any. And the little charging light does not lit either. The rest seems fine (red flashing light indicating low battery and turn-on sound…) and it has worked perfectly until low charge. Ideas anyone ? Anyone knows if charging socket on the device can be changed and hiw hard would that be ? Thx !

Bluetooth pair your device to the first speaker.

Thank you.I think I have solved it.I have bought a Tempotec DAP and it seems to be more reliable in linking bluetooth than my Samsung Galaxy A73

I've had my speaker for about 2-3 years now and now its just starting to malfunction I turn it on and when I go to turn it off it will automatically will turn back on. I did the factory reset and when I turn it off it will still do the same thing again if any one has found a solution for this please let me know.

What causes the 2Boom to keep sitting off during a song? Peered up a pairs and then shuts down! Kathy

My 2Bbom keeps shutting down when playing; pairs fine with blue tooth, shut down after a couple of minutes! Kathy

Boom2 suddenly stopped working.
No sound comes through although everything else looks fine. Connects and volume works but no sound. Not even the start up sound.
Tried factory reset and still no sound.
Anyone else have this problem.
