Vacuum will not charge
My Pet Perfect II has been on the charger for more than 8 hours and still won't operate.
Plug in the charger
Ensure the charger and charging stand are plugged into an outlet. Use an outlet that has power.
Ensure the vacuum is off
The Shark Pet Perfect II will only charge when set to off. If your vacuum is not turned off, it will not charge. Turn off the vacuum then attempt to charge.
Test the charging stand
The charger can be plugged into the vacuum directly vice using the charging stand. To test your charging stand as the source of the problem, try plugging in the vacuum using the charger only.
Replace the charger
If your charging stand or its connecting cables are damaged, this will inhibit the ability for the vacuum to charge. Consider replacing your charger and charging stand.
Dead or faulty battery
My vacuum will not turn on after charging. My charger and charging station are in working order.
Replace your battery
The Pet Perfect II uses a Nickel-Cadmium battery, which according to Shark takes around 16 hours to charge. If 16 hours of charging provides a few minutes of operation, you may need to replace the battery pack. You can call Shark Customer Care at 1-877-581-7375 or visit here to order a replacement battery pack. To replace the battery pack, check the guide here.
Vacuum has low suction power
My vacuum has low suction and low pick up power during operation.
Suction is blocked
Ensure the suction cup is free of debris and other blockages. These blockages may inhibit the power of suction that the vacuum is able to produce.
Dust cup is full
A full dust cup can also contribute to low suction power. Remove the dust cup and empty into the nearest receptacle. Replace dust cup and attempt operation.
Dust cup is broken
A cracked or damaged dust cup can cause a loss of air seal for the Pet Perfect II. This loss of seal can hinder the ability for the vacuum to operate. If your dust cup is broken, a replacement can be found here.
Battery power low
Suction power can also be determined by the battery charge. Ensure the vacuum is fully charged before operation. The suggested charge time is 16 hours.
Motorized brush will not turn
The brush in the suction attachment will not spin.
Physical debris prevents motion
If the motorized brush in the suction of the vacuum will not spin, ensure the brush is free of debris and other material that may be restricting movement of the brush. If needed, the brush can be removed and reinserted to free it of hair and other material.
The brush is broken
If the brush is otherwise damaged, Shark does not provide a replacement brush and you may need to consider replacing your vacuum.

I seriously haven’t had this much over 30 days and it won’t spin! It’s not full of debris and I feel you should absolutely replace it!! I love this for my couch and steps, why wouldn’t you replace if it’s defective?

Will the green light go OUT after it is fully charged? Brand new in charging station and green light keeps going off. It has been charging for about 12 hours because it new.

My Shark SV780n will sometimes run like perfect after a charge and other times it will only start up for 1 second and then shut off. What could the problem be?

Did you find a solution? I have the same Vac with the SAME PROBLEM!

My brush motor would run but the brush would stop spinning if too much pressure was put on it. The problem that I found and corrected was that the small nylon gear on the motor where the belt would go around had a small crack/split and the motor shaft was just spinning inside the gear causing the brush to stop spinning. I slid/took off the gear, cleaned the motor shaft with some alcohol and then applied some superglue on the shaft and reinstalled the gear back on the shaft. After it dried, I went back and applied some more glue in the crack just to fill it in. PROBLEM FIXED!!

Brand new vacuum. Runs few seconds then turns OFF. Second vacuum. Replacement for same problem on first Shark !
Is this a POOR product ??

Same exact problem, have bought 2!

Second Shark Cordless 18 Volts. Same problem. Brush only spins for about 5 seconds then stops, barely picks up anything. Recently ordered a Pet Bissell - looks just like Shark 18 Volt. Hopefully it will operate better than the Shark. Not worth it to take it to get it fixed - the fix costs more than the product. Checked everything else suggested - still doesn’t work. Needs a longer warranty on it.

Did you find a solution to your problem with your shark only running for a second ot two and then shutting off?? I have the same problem.! I have it apart and it appears to be a little capacitor or maybe a thermal link soldered across the poles. I am thinking this little guy is a thermal protector of some kind and causes the motor to shut off. Any ideas or help??

I have a Shark SV780 n. It would not turn on. I pulled it apart to replace? the switch. Turns out it was not the switch itself but the MOSFET that actually supplies power to the motor. I replaced the CEB83A3G on the power/charging board and, bingo! Works great. The transistor is available on line but I had to buy 10.
It is a surface mount device. I tried a heat gun to remove it but other components started to come off. With good soldering iron simply heat the entire transistor with the iron and slide it off the board. Apply a small amount of solder on the exposed pads and place the new one on the board. Heat the entire device with your soldering iron and flow the solder. Needless to say, don't keep the transistor hot for long periods but it is designed to take the heat of soldering.

Have any of those transistors left over? I'd buy a couple off of you!

When turn on (after a full charge) the Shark SQUEALS and sounds terrible. Husband thinks the problem is in the switch…I say motor? Could it happen because of a torn dust filter?
MM Ries - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
I’ve only used it a handful of times and it will only stay on for 30 seconds or less even after charging for 16+ hour or until the light turns off:/
