Laptop Will Not Turn On
Computer will not turn on or respond to any input.
Battery is not functional
Remove battery as shown in the battery replacement guide. With the battery still out of the computer, plug the computer into a working outlet. If the computer will turn on, the battery is faulty and will need replacement.
Charger is not functional
After removing the battery, if the computer still will not turn on, check to see if the LED on the front of the computer is on with a green light. This light indicates that the computer is receiving power. If the light is off, your problem is likely your power adapter, but if it's off, the problem is an internal component.
Motherboard is not functional
Having eliminated the previous options, the most likely culprit is now the motherboard. Replacing the motherboard is now your best option.
Laptop Will Not Boot to Windows
Laptop fails to load windows and you are prompted with an error message.
Hard drive failure
Some aspect of the operating system has corrupted due to anything from a partition error, to improperly powering down the system. Another likely possibility could involve the Hard Drive failing altogether due to age, manufacturing defect, or a power surge during a lightning storm. Both of these issues can be resolved by loading a copy of windows onto a bootable SD card/ USB thumb drive and hitting the ‘repair my computer’ button for a software error, or installing a fresh copy of Windows onto a new Hard Drive in case of failure.
Lack of Ram
If RAM is not installed on your computer, you will notice that it fails to boot beyond a diagnostic error and a beeping sound. This can simply be fixed by installing a compatible DDR3 RAM chip.
Bad installation of Windows
If a Windows upgrade/install loses power in process, then Windows could become corrupt. Another prominent culprit involves deletion of registry values or other software components critical to Windows. This can also be fixed by loading a bootable Windows SD card/USB thumb and either repairing or reinstalling Windows.
Viruses
Viruses can cause everything from your computer speeds being bogged down greatly, the infamous blue screen of death, or Windows just behaving erratically in general. The best measure to fight this is to install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware to hopefully clean your computer. If the virus prevents you from doing this, you will need to reinstall Windows from scratch, or from a clean backup stored on an external hard-drive.
No Sound Through Speakers
The audio from your speakers is warped or non-existent.
Alternate volume controls
Many programs have individual volume controls . If you're experiencing audio problems related only to specific programs or instances, check in the settings for those programs.
Audio drivers not installed/up to date
If there IS sound coming from your speakers, but it's distorted, the driver may be either out of date or corrupt. Search Samsung NP-102S-B05PH, and run the software updater. If this doesn't work (support for a device sometimes expires), you may need to manually search for drivers. After finding the appropriate driver, update a driver in Windows by opening Control Panel -> Device Manager -> Sound Controllers. Double Click on your sound card, then choose to update the driver. Find the updated driver, and restart your device to apply changes.
Speakers are not functional
Check that the speakers are defective by plugging a pair of working headphones into the audio jack. If sound comes through the headphones, the speakers may need to be replaced. Replace using this guide.
Distorted Picture or Black Screen
The screen is flickering on and off, or nothing is showing at all.
Ribbon cable disconnected
A flickering screen or a black screen could possibly be the result of a loose or disconnected ribbon cable connecting the LCD. Check out our guide on how to reconnect it properly.
Video drivers out of date
There is a possibility that your video drivers have become corrupted for whatever reason, or that particular version is unstable. Check out our guide on how to install the newest version of the video driver.
Screen is not functional
The screen could also have sustained damage at some point, whether from the laptop being dropped, or from a liquid being spilled onto it. In that case, you will need to replace the LCD screen using our guide.
Keyboard keys stuck or not responding
Keyboard keys stuck or not responding
Keyboard keys are stuck
One common issue is keyboard keys that are stuck so that they do not come back to the normal position. In order to fix this problem, first make sure there are no hard physical things under the keys. Use a pair of blunt tweezers or a spudger to remove any obstructions.
Keyboard keys are not responding
When the keys in the keyboard do not respond, the most common cause is that the keyboard driver is corrupted. Update or replace your keyboard driver, ensuring that the software is responding correctly.
