The LCD screen is frozen
The LCD screen does not change or respond to any button presses, but the dock still operates normally otherwise. This is most likely due to a broken screen, but is possible to fix easily.
Restart the dock
If the LCD screen is frozen, simply restarting the dock may fix it. To restart the dock, either press the power button or unplug the power cord to turn it off. After waiting for 10 seconds, press the power button again or plug the power cord back into the wall to turn the device on.
Replace the display
If restarting the dock doesn't help, the LCD screen may need to be replaced. Instructions for installing the LCD screen are outlined here.
The dock will not power up
The dock is plugged in but does not power up. The most likely cause is that it isn't plugged in correctly, but the dock may broken and require a part to be removed and installed.
Check the power cord
If the dock does not power it up, it may not be plugged in correctly. Unplug the power cord from the wall as well as the dock and then plug both ends back in.
Try a different outlet
If checking the power cord does not solve the problem, the wall socket being used may be damaged. Unplug the power cord from the wall and plug it into another wall socket.
Test the power cord
If using a different wall socket does not solve the problem, the power cord itself may be damaged or defective. Use a voltmeter to confirm that the power cord outputs 9V. If it the power cord outputs anything other than 9V, it will need to be replaced.
Replace the power jack
If the power cord functions normally but the dock does not power up, the power jack on the device will need to be replaced. The procedure for replacing the power jack is outlined here.
The dock doesn't produce sound
The dock powers up properly and the buttons/navigation operates normally but the dock does not produce any sound. Commonly this is due to the dock's or mp3 device's volume levels, but could be a result of some broken parts that need to be removed and reinstalled.
Check the volume levels
If the volume levels on the dock or the connect mp3 device are muted or set at a low volume, it will be difficult to hear any output. Check that neither is muted and that both are at a medium sound level.
Check the connected media
If you're trying to play sound from the radio, continue to the radio troubleshooting section. If you're trying to play sound from a connected iPod/iPhone or mp3 device, first disconnect and reconnect the device. If this does not solve the problem, then continue to either the iPod/iPhone troubleshooting section or the mp3 device troubleshooting section.
Radio
If the radio does not produce any sound, then the speakers may need to be replaced. To check if the speakers need to be replaced, set a test alarm using the dock's alarm clock function. iPod/iPhone connected to the connector
If the dock connects to an iPod/iPhone properly but does not play sound. then the iPod/iPhone may be malfunctioning or the speakers may need to be replaced.
iPod/iPhone
To check if the iPod or iPhone is functioning properly, plug a standard pair of headphones into the iPod/iPhone audio jack and check if it produces any sound. If not, then the device is malfunctioning and will need to be replaced. Else, the speakers will need to be replaced.
Speakers

Mp3 device connected to the audio jack
If the dock is connected to an mp3 device using the dock's audio jack but does not play any sound, then the connected device may be malfunctioning, the speakers may need to be replaced, or the audio jack may need to be replaced.
Connected mp3 device

An iPod/iPhone cannot connect.
The dock does not recognize that an iPod/iPhone is connected or the iPod/iPhone does not recognize that it's plugged in to anything. The most common problem is that the iPod/iPhone is not connected properly, but this could be cause by a malfunctioning iPod/iPhone or a broken connector on the dock.
Check that the iPod/iPhone is connected properly
If the dock is unable to connect to an iPod/iPhone, this is likely because it wasn't connected properly. Remove the iPod/iPhone and firmly push it onto the connector. If the dock still does not recognize it then either the iPod/iPhone is malfunctioning or the connector needs to be replaced.
Ensure the that iPod/iPhone is working properly
Try connecting the iPod/iPhone to a computer or docking system. If other devices are also unable to recognize the iPod/iPhone then it is probably malfunctioning and needs to be fixed. If other devices recognize it, then the dock's connector is broken and needs to be replaced.
Replace the connector

The sound produced is distorted/unbalanced

Try reconnecting the device

The buttons on the dock are not responding.
Clean the buttons
