Doesn’t Cut Straight
The device doesn’t cut straight when using.
Loose Screws
It is important to tighten the screw at the center of the blade. Injury could result from a loose screw. If the screw is loose, your blade could fall out or fly at any time. Double check all screws near the blade and ruler that could be making your saw wobble when cutting.
Blade isn't Aligned
Make sure that the blade is aligned. It may be that your saw is not cutting straight because the blade is not placed properly. Your blade may not cut straight, wobble when in use, or stop spinning if it is not aligned.
Device Emits Smoke When in Use
When powered on and in use, the device emits smoke.
Dull Saw Blade
The issue could be due to the current blade within the saw being dull. This could lead to excessive friction creating smoke when cutting. A dull blade is not going to cut and will end up damaging your saw and causing injury. Signs to know your blade is dull is to see if there is any chipping or tears of the wood, cutting slower than usual, or burn marks on the wood. You will need to replace the blade.
Dirty Saw Blade
It is possible, your saw blade has built up dust after use. The extra dust slows cutting speed and will result with your saw blade jamming. Cleaning your blade regularly after use and keeping a nylon wire brush close will allow you to get rid of excess dust. Simply after every use take the brush and brush off the sawdust built up on the blade. Additional condensed air would help with the process of cleaning the blade.
Overheating
The device overheats when used for a long period of time.
Strained Battery
An old battery usually deteriorates drastically, and this leads to battery depletion. Strained batteries can cause the device to overheat. If your device is extremely hot after every use, replacing your old battery with a new one can resolve overheating. Refer to this guide for battery replacement.
Dull Blade
Using a dull blade can cause the overheating of the saw. A dull blade requires more energy to cut through an object, and this causes the motor of the saw to overload. Replacing the old blade with a new blade can reduce the overheating of the saw.
Loose Ruler
The ruler on the saw is wiggling and loose.
Saw Too Deep/High When Cutting
There is a knob on the back of the saw that controls the depth of the blade. To safely and to be able to cut your piece of wood make sure the blade is in position that is desired. To keep the blade in place unscrew the depth lock knob, adjust to your desired height, and then tighten it once it has been adjusted to your liking.
Misaligned Blade
This knob is located at the front of the saw and is used to adjust the angle between the shoe and the saw blade. Adjust the angle of the saw to your desired degree. Then, once your saw is positioned, tighten the knob to maintain the angle.
Doesn’t Power On
When pressing the switch to start the device and pressing the trigger, the saw doesn’t power on and cut.
Failed Power Supply
The device is not properly getting power from the external battery resulting in an idle saw. Try replacing the battery with a different one or seeing if the prongs are damaged in the battery compartment.
Damaged Start Switch
The safety switch that powers the saw may be damaged due to heat or water damage. You can check the assembly to see if so. If there is damage to the switch, refer to this guide for start switch replacement.
