Handle is Broken
The handle of the machine is broken, cracked or will not push down properly.
Handle is Cracked
If the handle of the machine is broken or cracked, you will need to purchase a replacement online. Use this guide to help you replace the handle. A cracked handle may cause it to not push down properly.
Water is Leaking
Water leaks out of the machine instead of flowing through.
K-cup Holder is Cracked
If water is leaking at the base of the machine, the K-cup holder could be cracked. This would allow water to seep through. First check near the K-cup holder of the machine to locate any possible cracks. Once found, the K-cup holder must be replaced using this guide.
Water is Leaking from the Hose
If water is leaking near the K-cup holder, check to see if the K-cup holder is damaged. If the K-cup holder is not damaged, the hose may be clogged. You will have to open up the top of the Keurig to check for this by following this hose cleaning guide.
Water is not Dispensing
The water is not flowing through the K-cup correctly.
Water Overflows Instead of Flowing Through Machine
If the water overflows around the K-cup holder instead of dispensing, then your needles may not be penetrating the K-cup or the K-cup holder may be clogged. If the K-cup holder is not clogged, check this guide for replacing the top needle.
Water Does not Drain
If the water poured into the reservoir does not drain, it will not reach the K-cup. The drain on the Keurig may be clogged. To check if the drain is clogged and possibly unclog, use this guide to help you unclog your drain.
Machine Dispenses Slowly
The coffee is dispensing, but at a slower rate than when the machine was new.
Top Needle Does not Penetrate the K-cup
If water is dispensing abnormally slow, check to see if the top needle is dull. If it is dull, the needle will need to be sharpened. If the needle is sharp, then the needle may need to be cleaned.
Cleaning or sharpening the needle can be done by following this guide needle replacement guide.
Water Hose is Partially Clogged
If coffee is dispensing slowly, the water hose may be partially clogged. This can occur if the water in the reservoir is hard water with a high mineral content. Poor water quality can result in buildup of minerals in the dispensing tube. Unclog it using the hose cleaning repair guide.
Machine Not Brewing the Correct Amount
The machine is not producing the full amount of coffee.
K-cup has not Been Removed
If there is build up or the K-cup has not been removed, then the water will not flow through the machine as smoothly. Remove the K-cup promptly after brewing. Proceed to clean/wipe down with a soft, damp cloth. The K-cup holder can to be washed on the top shelf of the dishwasher on a low temperature cycle.
Needles are Clogged
If either the entrance or exit needles are clogged, then not all of the water will flow through. Use a straightened paper clip to enter into both the exit and entrance needles to free both from any and all coffee grounds.
Machine is Not Heating Up
The machine has stopped heating up to the temperature it is supposed to be.
Initial Water Temperature is Too Cold
If cold water is being used, the water being pumped through the brewer may not reach the temperature it is supposed to be. Warm the cup in advance by filling it with hot water and let sit for a minute or two before pouring out. Proceed to fill the cup with the desired amount of creamers before brewing coffee. Be sure to use room temperature water when filling the machine.
Water Heater is Malfunctioning
If the water heater is malfunctioning, then the water will not heat up to the proper temperature. Heating occurs when water is being pumped through the brewer, resulting in hot coffee. Take the machine apart and replace the water heater unit.
Coffee Has an Odd Taste
The coffee has a bad taste after being brewed.
Minerals are in the Water
If tap water is being used, a bad taste can occur in the coffee as a result of minerals and residue in the tap water. Boil the tap water before brewing the coffee. If there is still an odd taste, use a filter for the tap water before brewing the coffee.
Buildup has Occurred in the Machine
If there is a scaling or mineral buildup, the water will collect it when flowing through. Mix vinegar and water and let soak in the machine. Then flush the mixture with filtered or boiled water. If the taste still occurs, purchase descaling solution and clean the machine thoroughly by disassembling and cleaning each part.

My "Mini Kurig" is not dispensing the water into the cup. I cleaned the hose and the machine is heating the water, it just will not flow from the Kurig into the cup.
Lorral Weaver - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
I threw away my first mini when we couldn’t get the cycle to complete. I bought new one. Worked ok for awhile then started same issues. I had to add water to get it to restart after shutting down. Now when this happens I add 4 oz of extra water, press button again and near end of successful cycle I just pull my cup away and let the extra weak 4 oz go into throw away cup. I also hold down the start button top with flat palm extra long. Very fussy little machine.

I have the newest Keurig mini and it will not take in the water from the reservoir correctly. It will only take one oz. at a time, so if I want a 10 oz cup of coffee I have to raise and lower the handle repeatedly until all the water has been taken in.
Frances Green - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Same problem here. Water does not completely pump out of the reservoir. I too have to raise and lower the Kcup handle and press the brew button to get it to fully drain the reservoir.
Mike Canfield -
Same problem. When we have to do that, the keurig does not heat the water normally and the coffee is luke warm at best…
Brad Vaters -
We had this issue and we found it happened with certain brands of K-Cups and not others. We found if we pressed the problematic K-cups down firmly before closing the lid, everything worked fine.
Julie -
This is my exact problem as well. I just end up running water through without the k-cup the first time because the water is only lukewarm. I wish I could find a solution!
Beth Zipay -
I also have this problem. I place an amount of water into the reservoir, place the k-cup into the dispenser, push the button to start the process…but only an ounce or two of water will drain from the reservoir. That ounce or two will heat up, and then when the coffee starts to dispense into my cup, it will also drain the rest of the cold water from the reservoir and add it to the tiny bit of hot coffee. For some reason, if I do a second cup of coffee, it will usually run as it should, it’s just the first cup in the morning that does this. So now, I just run a plain water run through it, then actually make my second run as an actual cup of coffee. I would love it if Keurig would mention a fix. It’s really…..really obnoxious.
Kira -
Same exact problem here. Once it does take hold the coffee comes out luke warm. Do we know of a solution yet?
Kelly Cook -
I have found that the problem seems to be worse the colder the water is. I have this unit in an unheated shop so warm water is scarce in the winter. I have resorted to running the water thru once (once I get it all to draw in) without a pod then heating it again to brew the coffee. A completely frustrating situation. I expect in the summer when a hot cup of coffee will be no where near as satisfying this problem will no longer be an issue. Unfortunately this is turning out to be a very negative experience with my first Kuerig brewer.
Mike Canfield - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Same problem as Mike and Frances . Water does not completely pump out of the reservoir. I too have to raise and lower the Kcup handle and press the brew button to get it to fully drain the reservoir. It worked great at first and now this problem started, anyone got a fix?
Jeremy Schiller - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
I came back to say that Julie’s suggestion above to make sure you press the k-cup firmly down into its spot in the brewer has worked for me 100% of the time. I used to just set the cup in there and use the handle to push it down into place. Since trying Julie's method I have not an issue with the water reservoir not draining (used to happen at least every other day). Thanks Julie!
Beth Zipay - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Having to raise and lower handle many times to get more water to pump through. I JUST descaled 3 days ago. It shouldn’t be clogged, although it sounds like it is. I’ve had this problem several times and I’ve only had my Kmini for 9 months.
Alyssa Bergman - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
We got tired of dealing with it. We got a hold of Keurig and they agreed to replace our unit for free. The new Keurig does not have the same problem. My guess is they fixed the glitch or only some of the units had the issue. I suggest replacing your unit for free through Keurig if you deal with this problem on a regular basis.
Brad Vaters - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
How do i contact keurig?
Cathy F -
Yes, same here! And doing it repeatedly means it doesn't heat properly. Occasionally we get it to work, then it's right back to 1 oz. at a time. I've tried unplugging it, waiting, then trying again, and sometimes that works but most likely it was that lucky, random time of working.
When it pumps out the 1 oz., I can heat water trickling through and sometimes all of it will drain through but it won't heat or dispense until a lukewarm cup has run through.
I have run diluted vinegar through. I have run straight vinegar through. I have experimented with filtered water vs. tap water and there is no difference in whether or not I can get it to brew. Could it be an electronics issue?
Elizabeth Dillon - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
When we try to brew a cup in our Keurig Mini, it only accepts a small portion of the water in the water well, then brews. At the end of the brewing cycle, it allows the rest of the cold water through, unheated, resulting in a terrible cup of coffee. Anyone know what might be causing this?
Kimberlie Ladell - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
It sounds like we’re all having the same exact issue - nothing seems to work - believe me, we’ve tried everything and are ready to smash the unit into smithereens! So, it sounds like contacting Keurig and getting a new product is the solution?
Kimberlie Ladell - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Update: I just called Keurig, explained my issues and they are sending me a new one in 3-5 business days!! I am very impressed with this company!
Kimberlie Ladell - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
I found this happened to me when I left the used coffee pod in machine over night. If I take it out immediately after brewing it hasn,t happened.
wyurkovitch - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Thank you all for validating my awful experiences! A malfunctioning coffee machine is the worst morning betrayal!!
Stella B - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Purchased 2 mimi Keurig's. Thet both leaked water on the very first use. Will return and try another brand of coffee maker. Not happy with my purchase. Coffee not hot. Makes a mess on counter.
kim huntley - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
This is exactly my experience. I called Keurig and after doing everything they ask me, they offered me a 35% coupon off my next machine if I buy it from their store. For $50 I can get a new one from them. I have to admit that mine is about 18 months old. So I should have complained much sooner. I haven’t decided if I’ll buy a new one or try something else. I’m quite disappointed with this machine.
Mark E Fabian US - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
I only get 4 oz no matter the selection. Only worked properly for 20 cups.
jskaga@gmail.com - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Same problem but stops pulling in water and I have to open close handle several tmes. It starts heating and then sucks in rest of water. My wife found that if she holds the brew button down it pulls all the wter in and brews properly. I am guessing a sensor issue of some kind,
Peter Booth - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
My Keurig mini will not brew after inserting a k-cup, it turns off instead.
dad0jess - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
My machine has started making a sound after brewing…much like it’s still trying to pull water through system. This continued even after unplugging. The noise stops with the handle is raised but starts agains when lowered.
Brandy Beverly - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
My unit will power down about a minute after starting a brew. I have to restart it and put slight pressure on the cover to complete the cycle.
dennis.singer - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Water sputters out. I've cleaned it. Ran just water through, in case there is a clog. Runs fine if there is no pod in the machine. What can be happening?
gracie33x6 - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
I have the exact same problem! Did you find a way to fix it?
David Hope -
I went to make me coffee and so I put water in and my k cup and I pushed start it sucked the water in and acted like it was heating it and it shut the machine off. So I had to add more water and trick the machine that I was making another cup and this time it came out cold. So I dumped it. I made another cup it sucked the water in and nothing. So I added more water and it make a hot cup of coffee but not hot enough because by the time I added creamer is was cold again

My keurig is making my coffee too watery. How can I fix that?
diamondchica117 - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
I bought this machine in June 2021 and it is doing nothing but roaring. Can’t seem to get anywhere with Keurig service. I own 3 Keurig machines. Time to switch to another brand. Really gripes me because this one was for my mother and is supposedly easy to use and maintain. $80.00 for something that worked less than 7 months.
Judy Veeneman - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Water dispenses, flip lid down, light blinks. But machine won't start when I press the buton on. top. First time after adding water the light blinked, I pressed button and nothing happened. I've been repeating the lifting of the lid and it's still not working.
sweetpblack - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
I have the answer to water not flowing through. It works every time. Just heat water before putting it in the machine. I guess the heater needs a little help. Pre heated water is the answer.
