When you plug the AC adapter into the computer, there are no lights turning on at all. When you push on the power button, nothing happens. The computer appears to be completely dead, makes no sounds, no indications of life.

The battery might not be connected to the computer properly. To see how to connect / disconnect the battery, see the (battery replacement guide).

Try a hard reset, and see if this helps. To do a hard reset, you’ll need to:

Remove the battery and then unplug the power adapter (charging cord).

Press the power button, and hold it for at least 15 seconds.

Plug in the power adapter, but leave the battery out.

Press the power button, and see if the computer turns on.

When plugged in, there is no light, and the nothing happening to indicate the battery is charging.

In this case test the AC adapter with a voltmeter. If it’s dead, replace it with a new one.

In this case the DC jack has to be replaced.

When I turn on the computer all the lights turn on, but after about five seconds it beeps loudly four times; all along the screen is completely black.

4 beeps from your computer means there is an issue with your memory; see HP Pavilion G6 Beep Code Guide.

Remove the memory from the computer and reinsert it. ( Link our RAM replacement guide).

To do a hard reset, you’ll need to:

Press the power button, and see if the computer turns on.

The computer is working as normal, but runs very loud.

As you might have been able to tell, the components inside the laptop generate a bit of heat. The fan is probably just working hard to keep it cool, which is normal. Try to avoid having things obstruct the vent on the side of the computer, and the fan will most likely slow down once it has been cooled down to where it needs to be.

If the fan is running at a normal rate but there is still a loud noise, there is probably an issue with the hard drive, and you should backup your hard drive as soon as possible. Once this has been completed, replace the hard drive (see the hard-drive repair guide).

The Audio coming out of the computer is difficult to understand and static.

Audio Driver has malfunctioned and needs to be reinstalled.

Click the Windows icon in your Taskbar, type device manager in the Start Search box, and then press Enter

Go to the drop down menu arrow that says audio inputs and outputs

Right click on Speakers, and select uninstall device.

Right click on audio outputs and inputs, then click scan for hardware changes.

The speakers should reappear.

The computer shuts down at random, even though it has plenty of battery charge left.

With all these components creating heat, it is very easy for the computer to overheat. Make sure that there is nothing blocking the vent, as it is the only way for the fan to blow out hot air. Once this is done, give time for the computer to cool down, and try again.

To test for this, shut down the notebook. Tap f10 repeatedly as you start the notebook to enter the bios menu. Under the Advanced or Diagnostic tab you should find the facility to run tests on both the Hard Drive and Memory.

If both the above tests pass, try the following.

From the Start Menu, open All Programs, open Accessories, right click the Command Prompt and select 'Run as Administrator'. In to the prompt type the following command and hit enter.

sfc /scannow ( note that there is a space between sfc and the / )

Let the process complete, then type exit and hit enter.

Next, click the Start Menu, click Computer, left click Local Disc C once to highlight it, right click Local Disc C and select Properties. Click the Tools tab and then click the button to 'Check the Drive for Errors'. In the following window make sure both boxes are ticked and then click Start. Agree to schedule the check at the next system restart and then restart the notebook - this process can take several hours to complete before loading back into Windows.

The keyboard won’t type and becomes unresponsive.

The keyboard needs to be uninstalled and reinstalled. To do this, Open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager, expand Keyboards, right click the entry 'Standard PS/2 Keyboard' and select Uninstall.

Shutdown the notebook.

Then unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery. Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds. Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
