Screen is Blank
Nothing is displayed on the screen.
Device is not Powered
You can tell if the computer is not on if the light near the power button is not flashing. Hold down the power button, the circular button at the top right of the keyboard, for a couple of seconds and the computer should power on displaying information on the screen and the light near the power button should be flashing. If this doesn't work refer to our “Computer Won’t Turn On” section in this troubleshooting guide. If the computer is turned on indicated by the flashing near the power button, but there's still nothing on the screen, you may have another issue.
Brightness is too low
The brightness setting controls how bright the screen is. If it is turned down all the way it may appear that nothing is on the screen. To change this, locate the “F12” button on the keyboard. It is at the top of the keyboard and it should also have an image of a shaded in sun. Repeatedly tap the button until the screen is visible.
Faulty Screen
If the screen has any cracks in it or has taken any strong force to it, then you may need to replace the screen. Please refer to our screen replacement guide.
Computer is Slow
The computer functions as intended, but applications, files and other contents on the device open or run slower than expected.
Wrong Charging Mode
There are three modes of the power supply in the laptop: balanced, energy-saving, and high performance. If you choose energy-saving mode, your battery can be used for a longer period of time, but the computer's operating speed will drop significantly. To change this so the device runs faster, click on the battery icon in the bottom right corner of the screen then click "Power Settings". From here you can change the mode to high performance for the fastest speed at the cost of battery life.
Too many Programs Running
Your computer may have too many processes or applications running at once.
To quit a background program, right-click the program's icon in the system tray (next to the clock), and choose Close, Exit, or Disable. If there is no response, press and hold the CTRL and ALT keys, and then press the DELETE key. Chose the TASK MANAGER option, then choose APPLICATIONS. From the applications, choose whatever programs you want to close, and then click End Task. Make sure you are closing applications that do not run system processes. The applications you want to close are usually the ones that take up a high amount of CPU % which is indicated in the right column next to the application.
System Hard Drive is Full
There may be too many files stored on your computer which may make your device run slower. Go through your computer storage and delete any unnecessary files.
If you have any programs installed that you do not need, open the control panel by typing "ctrl" in the search box near the windows logo and press ENTER. Then under the PROGRAMS section click "uninstall a program".
You may also want to empty the Recycle Bin, as it contains files that are no longer wanted. Right-click the Recycle Bin icon on your desktop and select "Empty Recycle Bin" from the drop-down menu.

Computer Virus
Depending on your browsing habits, you may have contracted a virus on your device. To protect your computer from a Virus, you should Install a virus protection or an antivirus software. Once its installed, open the protect model and then choose scan and clean. After the virus has been cleaned, make sure you perform regular updates so that new kind of virus can be detected. A good, free antivirus software can be found here.
Computer won’t Turn On
The computer shows no signs of power when the power button is pressed.
Bad Charger Plug
If you plug your charger into your computer and the light near the charging port does not light up, then your cable may be unusable. The best solution is to get a new charger cable.
Bad Battery
Your battery may have been damaged or exposed to outside substances such as water. The best way to solve this would be to get an entirely new battery and replace it by following our replacement guide.
Motherboard Damage
If the battery has been replaced, and the computer still won’t turn on, you should check the motherboard as it may not be functioning properly. This is usually the case when there is a slight burst of power when the power button is pressed, but the computer will not turn on. You should follow this guide on how to replace the motherboard.
Blue Screen of Death
The computer screen suddenly becomes blue with an error message displayed.
Booting into Safe Mode
You will need to boot into safe mode to get passed the blue screen. follow these instructions in order:
- Restart your computer
- Hold “F8” until the windows logo pops up
- Use the arrow key and select “Safe Mode” from the boot menu
- Press “Enter”
Outdated Software
It is very likely you have a blue screen because your software is outdated. Follow these steps to properly update your software:
- Open Control Panel and click on System and Security within Control Panel.
- Click System and then click System Protection link
- Choose System restore and follow the rest of the instruction.
Audio is Distorted
The audio from the device sounds unusual.
Blown out speakers
The speakers could have been damaged by using them at a high volume setting for extended periods of time. You can test this by plugging in an external set of speakers to the audio jack on the side of the computer. You can tell if this is the problem if sound comes from the external speakers you plugged in but not the laptop speakers when they are unplugged. If this is the case, you should refer to our guide on how to replace the speakers.
Faulty Driver
It is possible that the audio drivers were not updated properly or have not been updated at all. You can try to download the correct audio drivers with this link.
