The Watch Won’t Play Music
The watch won’t sync with a music app or will not play music already downloaded to the watch.
The Software is Out of Date
The watch may need a software update in order for music to play properly. Try updating the watch. If the watch is fully updated, make sure that the music app is up to date as well.
Storage is Full
If the storage on the watch is full or close to full then music stored on the watch may not play and music may not synch to the watch altogether. Uninstalling and reinstalling the app can fix this issue temporarily, but clearing some apps and items stored on the device is recommended.
The Watch Won’t Connect to The Internet
Even when connected to the Garmin Connect app or the Garmin Express application, the watch will not connect to the internet.
The App is Out of Date
The app may not be up to date. Check to see if there are any updates pending for the app, if there are then to avoid this issue in the future go to ‘Settings’ > ‘System’ > ‘Software Update’ > ‘Auto Update’. If the device is up to date, try testing the connection using the app. For Garmin Connect, first tap the ‘ . . . ‘ icon, then select ‘Garmin Devices’ and select your device, and finally choose your WIFI network and select ‘Connect’. For Garmin Express, launch the program and select ‘Device’ then ‘Tools & Content’. Finally, choose ‘Utilities” and select the network.
Network Settings Mismatch
Sometimes different network settings may across the router and watch may cause the watch to not connect to the internet. The first step is to update your watch if there are any pending updates. Otherwise, several network settings could cause issues with internet connectivity with the watch. One thing to check is that the network password is alphanumeric. If your watch is displaying “Unable to connect to Wi-Fi network. Error code 010.”, switch your router’s security settings to WPA-PSK. You may need to refer to your router’s manual for help switching these settings. If none of these steps work, try resetting your watch network settings and your router network settings.

The battery drains much quicker than advertised, even when not being used.

The Device Won’t Connect to The Phone
The watch will not recognize the phone or vice-versa.
Garmin Connect is not Installed
Garmin Connect must be installed on your smartphone in order for it to properly connect to the Garmin 6X Fenix. Also ensure that Bluetooth is activated for the smartphone. If Garmin Connect is functioning correctly and the watch still won’t pair, try removing the watch from Garmin Connect app and re-adding it.
The Watch is Not Ready to be Paired
The watch needs to be in pairing mode for it to successfully connect to the phone. In order to achieve this, go to the watch’s settings menu, tap Bluetooth, and select Pair mobile device. Ensure that your Garmin device has the latest software installed by choosing About in the settings menu and comparing it to the latest version listed by Garmin.
The Devices Need to Reset
Sometimes the watch and phone need to be reset before they can recognize each other. Try switching Bluetooth off and on on your smartphone; this will restart the software or ‘cycle’ it. Power cycle your phone by switching it on and off, too. Finally, power cycle the watch by pressing and holding the light button until the watch switches off. Then press it again to turn it back on. Now pair the devices normally.
The Watchband is Damaged or Snapped
The watchband has a crack/tear forming or has completely snapped.
The Band is Cracked or Torn
If the band is cracked or torn, then applying a small amount of super glue to the affected area can repair the band. Be sure to remove any excess glue immediately or the band will become uncomfortable to wear. This fix will not last forever, and may cause the band to look unappealing, depending on how badly it is damaged. It is recommended that after the band is repaired, a new one is ordered to replace the damaged one.
The Band has Snapped
If the band has completely snapped or is damaged beyond repair, the band must be replaced. Replacement bands are easy to get and easy to install. To replace the band follow this guide.
The Device Does Not Turn on
The device will not turn on at all, the screen is completely black.
The Device is Not Charged
The device may not have any charge. Try plugging in the device and waiting about thirty minutes.
The Contacts are Dirty or The Cable is Bad
Check the contacts on both the cable and the watch. If they are dirty then they can be cleaned with a small amount of rubbing alcohol on a cloth or a pencil eraser. If the watch still does not charge after cleaning, try replacing the cable.
The Motherboard is Bad
If the watch will not display anything, even after charging, then the motherboard may need to be replaced. This is a last ditch effort to turn the watch on and all other possible solutions should be tried first. To replace the motherboard follow this guide.
