The steam wand does not heat up after a few uses
The temperature of the steam wand stays cool after initiating the use of it
Preheat the Steam Wand
Turn on the steam wand and run a cycle through the espresso machine to allow for the steam wand to warm up.
Steam Wand May Be Blocked By Build-up
After each use ensure that the steam machine is thoroughly cleaned by using a warm towel to wipe the residue off of the steam wand.
Blocked coffee grinder when using expresso mode
The coffee grinder may have built up from previous uses causing a delay in espresso mode
Old Coffee Beans May Cause Build-up
Coffee beans from previous use that are not cleaned out thoroughly will cause the coffee grinder to be blocked. Take apart the parts of the coffee grinder and wash each one with soap and warm water.
Overfill Of Coffee Beans In Grinder
This device works best when there are less coffee beans in the grinder allowing for the beans to become more fine.
Milk frother does not function
The milk frother isn’t frothing the milk properly
Nozzles may be dirty
Check the nozzles of the frother to make sure that there isn’t any milk debris inside. Make sure that the machine is off and unplugged to clean the nozzle. Twist the nozzle to the right to remove the outer part of the nozzle. Next, pull the tip down until the piece comes off. Rinse thoroughly to remove all the debris inside, dry and twist them back in.
To keep the machine performing and heating up properly, you should always clean after using them to prevent excessive build-up.
Not using correct type of milk
When frothing your milk, make sure it is cold. De’Longhi recommends using semi-skimmed milk at refrigerator temperature for the best results.
Steam Notifier Light Will Not Turn On
Steam Light won’t turn on when you use the on/off button
The Light Bulb Inside Is Broken
If the lightbulb is broken, then it means you have to replace it.
Leaking Water
Preventing leaks from the base of the water tank
Water Tank May Be Cracked
Over time of use, the water tank can eventually crack. When washing the tank, do not put it into the dishwasher, hot water can damage the plastic. Check regularly in the case of any damage.
Seals For The Tank Are Worn Out
A defective seal on the bottom of the tank can cause water to leak. To check if this is the problem, fill the tank with water and look for any leaking from below. If this is the cause, the seal will have to be removed and replaced.
Pump Hose Has Split Open
Hoses that pump the water go through high water pressures and eventually will burst over time or can be damaged by built-up limestone inside the outlet. It is recommended to regularly clean these hoses.
Espresso coffee dispensed cold
Coffee is not hot/warm when dispensed
Preheating was not done/completed
Assure the machine is on by pressing the ON/OFF button and check the power light. After the coffee drip light comes on, press the coffee drip button.
Scale in the water circuit
The mineral build-up in the coffee unit may disrupt preheating. To descale the unit, dilute the provided descaler solution in water. (If you do not have a descaler solution, use vinegar.) Remove the water filter before turning the machine on, then allow ¼ of the solution through the coffee dripper by pressing the coffee drip button. Leave the solution for at least 5 minutes before repeating this process 3 to 4 times. Rinse the tank and fill with clean water to remove the rest of the solution.

I’m experiencing this, too. Thoughts?

Same thing here! Is it a heating element short circuiting? Is it a descale issue? Is it a pump issue? It dispenses half warmed water then shuts off before using all the water.

The power, auto & 1-4 cup lights flash and then it turns off. Is it time to retire my coffee machine?

I recently found out that if i plug my coffee machine in at my shop.. Where there is different cables for electricity than my house then i haven’t had that problem so far.. I geuss electricity in my house is too strong or too weak that makes the machine shut off

I am experiencing this too. The lights and clock flash and then the unit seems to reset, similar to a power surge. I have taken to unplugging the unit and only plugging it in to use it. Somethings not right but it still makes brewed and espresso coffee.

The button for pulling espresso shots is stuck in the on position, is there a way to fix this? I cannot use the steamer with this button on now, needless to say of being able to use it for espresso.

We can’t get water out of the top of the cappuccino side. When we turn on the pump all the water comes out the bottom overflow into the plastic tray on the bottom. Anyone know why this is happening? Ive cleaned everything including the inline filter Uber the machine. We get plenty of water or steam out of the steamer tube. And when the take out the center spring and nut we get pleanty of water coming out of the left side. But as soon as put the spring back in we can’t get any water to come out on the left side, i even replaced the spring with my kids identical unit. So i know its not the spring. Could it be the pump is not strong enough to depress the spring correctly? Rick

Does anyone have an issue with the unused water not being caught in the drip pan while using the espresso function on the DeLonghi BCO430? Mine has been leaking even with the machine is turned off!
