Keyboard Doesn't Work at All

No matter what you do, you can't get your keyboard to turn on.

Computer Doesn’t Recognize the Keyboard Is Connected

Try unplugging the USB cable and plugging it back in. If that doesn’t work, try using a different USB cable to connect the keyboard to the computer. If that solution fails, the keyboard’s PCB might be dysfunctional.

Wrong Driver

If your computer fails to properly install a driver for the keyboard, go here and download the correct driver for your keyboard and operating system.

Bad Connections Inside Computer

It’s possible that the USB port in your computer has lost connection with the computer’s motherboard; if so, you’ll need to open up your computer and re-attach the internal USB cable with the motherboard. Search iFixit for instructions on how to do this with your computer.

Just a Few Keys Aren’t Working

Most of the keys work, but a few don't.

Dust

If the keyboard has been used for a long time, there might be some crumbs from daily use. A vacuum cleaner can be used to remove small debris from the keyboard.

Replacing Keycaps

Some keys are shiny with use, and replacing them is much cheaper than buying a new keyboard.

Installing new keycaps

If the keyboard’s key caps are dirty or shiny from overuse, you can replace them by following this guide for small keys, and this guide for larger ones.

Keyboard is Too Loud

Your fancy mechanical keyboard is too loud!

Loud Clicking Noise while Typing

If you feel that the keyboard is too loud, you can purchase and install O-rings to reduce noise. Follow this guide for installation on smaller keys and this guide for installation on larger ones.

Lights don’t work

The LEDs on your keyboard don't light up.

Replace LED Lights

If a light on the keyboard is dysfunctional, you can replace it by following this guide.

It’s a standard USB cable. I had to trim away the strain relief boot on a spare cable I wanted to use.

My keyboard is registering connection (lighting up caps lock and print screen) but none of the keys are working (can't turn off caps lock or print screen light). i've had the keyboard for a while now and had this problem once previously and solved it with a random code on keys to unlock it on a forum i can no longer find. any tips would be helpful!!
