Tablet is stuck in "Boot Loop"
Your tablet keeps getting stuck on the Apex logo screen and will not go to the start up screen.
Factory Reset for the device
If your tablet keeps restarting over and over again, or get's stuck on the logo screen, then you will need to factory reset your device. The following instructions will show you how to do this:
- Power down your device by pressing and holding the power button located on the top left of the tablet.
- Turn the device back on by holding either of the (+) or (-) volume buttons and the power button at the same time. Continue holding the volume and power buttons until a picture of the Android logo appears on the screen. This should take approximately 15 seconds.
- After the Android robot image has loaded, a menu will appear. You can navigate the options using the power button to select, and the (+) or (-) volume buttons to move up or down.
- Move the cursor to the "Factory Data Reset" option and select it. Then select "Yes" when prompted, and the tablet will begin the reset. Allow the device to complete the reset process.
- Once the device has finished the reset, select on the screen "Reboot Tablet Normally". Your device will now reboot to its factory defaults.
Tablet Will Not Turn On
The tablet will not respond or show any sign of powering up
Battery Has Lost It's Charge
If your tablet will not power on, the internal battery could just need to be recharged. There are two ways to recharge your tablet. One way is to connect the AC adapter, that was included with your tablet, to your tablet's powerjack, plugging the other end of the AC adapter into an AC power outlet/socket. Another option is to connect the USB cord, that was also included with your tablet, to the tablet, then connect the other end into the USB port in your computer/laptop. Allow your tablet to charge fully before using. This should take at least 5 hours. While both methods will recharge the internal battery, recharging via AC power will take less time than recharging via USB. If the tablet doesn't respond to the charger, try a different charger to make sure your charger isn't malfunctioning.
Software glitch
If the tablet is charged but power has cut out, you may need to reset your tablet by pressing the reset button on the back.
Faulty battery
If the device will not charge and you know that the charger isn't broken, your lithium ion battery may be defective. This can be repaired by replacing your battery. Refer to the Apex Tablet 7 Battery Replacement to remove and replace the battery.
No Sound is Coming Out of Plugged in Headphones
There is no sound coming from your headphones when they are plugged in to the tablet.
Volume is muted or turned too low
Check the volume setting and make sure it is turned up and unmuted.
A faulty headphone set is being used with the tablet
Try to use a different audio cable to ensure that it is not just a faulty headphone problem.
Internal software error
First, try powering off the device and restarting it to see if this fixes the problem. A factory reset may be needed to fix this issue; follow the steps below to do this.
Electrical connection to headphone jack is weakened or disconnected internally
A possible test for internal disconnection may be to repeatedly plug and unplug the headphone jack while listening to the headphones to determine if there is any static or noise being produced. If none of the other options work, the jack itself may need replacing.
No sound is coming out of the device speaker
You can't hear any sounds on your tablet.
Volume is muted or turned too low
Check the volume setting and make sure it is turned up and unmuted.
Speaker Connection is broken
The electrical connection to the speaker may have been damaged or broken. This could be a result of overuse or opening the back panel of the tablet too forcefully. There is a guide on how to repair your speakers wire here: Repairing Apex Tablet 7 Internal Speaker Connection
Internal software error
First, try powering off the device and restarting it to see if this fixes the problem. Try to use a different audio cable to ensure that it is not just a faulty headphone problem. A factory reset may be needed to fix this issue, which can be done using the following instructions:
Hardware malfunction
The speaker component may need to be replaced if neither of the other options work.
Volume keys are sticky or unresponsive to user input
Debris or sticky substances are trapped under or around the volume buttons
To fix this, try cleaning around the button's edge with a q-tip or needle. Compressed air from a can may be more effective at loosening debris and dirt from under the buttons.
Electrical connection to volume buttons weakened or disconnected internally
The pins that connect the buttons to the electronics inside the tablet may be weakened or broken due to wear. Click this link to refer to the Volume Button Replacement Guide.
No Display
There is nothing displayed on your tablet's screen. All you see is a black screen
On Stand-By Mode
First, make sure your tablet isn't in stand-by mode. If your tablet is in stand-by mode then the tablet is still powered on, but the LCD screen is deactivated. To reactivate the screen quickly press and release the power button located on the side of the device.
Not Powered On
Make sure that your tablet is powered on. To power on the tablet, press and hold the power button located on the side for a few seconds. If the screen doesn't power on, then the tablet might need to be recharged.
Tablet Needs to be Recharged
The Battery life could be too low and not sufficient enough to power the screen, or the battery could have completely lost charge. If this is the case, simply recharge your tablet.
While both methods will recharge the internal battery, recharging via AC power will take less time than recharging via USB.
Faulty Battery
If you have tried to recharge your tablet but it still has no power, the battery is probably dead and must be replaced. Refer to the Apex Tablet 7 Battery Replacement to learn how to remove the battery.
Tablet needs to be Restarted
Since there is no display, you will have to restart your tablet by using the reset button located on the backside of the tablet at the bottom of the reset aperture. The aperture requires that a paper-clip, or other small, narrow-tipped item be inserted to trigger the reset.
This will clear the memory and reboot the tablet, but is not the same as a factory reset because all your personal information, applications, settings, etc. will be retained.
LCD Display Issues
If you know that your tablet is charged and powered on but is still not showing any display, then your LCD display is broken and needs to be replaced.
Damaged Screen
The outer glass is cracked, has a lot of scratches, and/or display shows random color patterns or a distorted image
Damaged Digitizer
If the outer glass appears to be damaged (e.g. cracked) but your tablet still has an image displayed, the touchscreen is responsive to touch, and the audio and keys seem to function properly, then the digitizer (outer glass) needs to be replaced.
Broken LCD
If the digitizer (outer glass) is not damaged, but your tablet no longer has an image displayed (e.g. a black screen) or the screen is displaying color or distorted images (e.g. black liquid), the LCD display located underneath the touch screen digitizer, is probably needs replacement.
Broken LCD screen & Digitizer
If the top touch panel is broken and the LCD screen is black liquid or appears cracked you will need to replace both the digitizer and LCD screen.
Touchscreen is Unresponsive
The screen still displays an image but does not respond when you touch the screen or press the keys
Tablet Needs to be Reset
If your touchscreen is unresponsive, it possibly just needs to be reset. There are two possible ways to accomplish this. First, restart your tablet by turning off the power and then turning it back on. To power on/off the tablet, press and hold the power button located on the side for a few seconds and then release it. When powering it off, you will be prompted to confirm that you wish to power the tablet off.
If powering the device off and back on doesn't work, then press the reset button located on the back of the tablet at the bottom of the reset aperture. It should be labeled "RESET' in white letters. The aperture requires a paper-clip or other small, narrow-tipped item to insert and trigger the reset. This will clear the memory and reboot the tablet. This is not the same as a factory reset; your personal info, apps, settings, etc. will be retained so it is a good idea to try this reset method before performing a factory reset. Be careful not to apply too much pressure to the button located inside the aperture in order to avoid damage.
Factory Reset
If you have reset your tablet by powering it off and on, or by pushing the reset button, and the display is still not responding, then a factory reset might be needed. Factory reset will erase all data on your tablet. That being said, before you preform a factory reset, make sure that all files are backed up to ensure that loss of data and files is avoided.
Use the following instructions to perform a factory reset:
Broken Screen
If your touchscreen is still unresponsive the touchscreen digitizer (outer glass) needs to be replaced.
Distorted Pictures
The camera is taking distorted pictures.
Broken Camera
If your camera is taking black or distored pictures, then your camera is damaged internally or could be physically broken as well, such as cracked outerglass. If this is the case, the camera will need to be replaced. Use the following guide with instructions on how to replace the camera: Apex Tablet 7 Camera Replacement
