American Weigh AWS-100 Troubleshooting
Display Gives Faulty Readings
The weight shown on the display is inaccurate or inconsistent.
Display Shows Negative Number When Nothing Is On It
If there is nothing currently on the scale, but it still shows a number, or is negative, press the Tare button on the front to reset the scale to zero. This will also reset it even if there is something currently on the weighing platform.
Reading Is Noticeably Inaccurate
The scale might require calibration. Refer to the instructions on the inside cover. Use 100 grams as the calibration weight. If you don't have a standardized weight, 20 U.S. nickels is equivalent to 100 grams.
Unresponsive Display
The screen won't turn on.
Faulty Battery
The batteries could be dead, or there could be something obstructing their connection. Refer to this guide on battery replacement.
Display Not Properly Connected
The display is improperly connected to the circuit board. Open the device, and secure the connection.
Error Codes
The scale displays error codes such as OUTZ, 88888, or L.
Display reads OUTZ
The scale needs to be calibrated. Refer to the above section on Faulty Readings. If performing calibration doesn't remedy the problem, the scale might have suffered permanent damage.
Screen Shows 88888
The device is overloaded. Remove any additional weight until the error code disappears and the object's weight begins to show on the screen again. Overloading the device could cause serious damage to the load cell.
Screen Shows L
The batteries in your device are running low. Replace the batteries as soon as possible using the guide here.
Damage to Physical Components
Outer plastic casing or keys are damaged.
Sensor Defect
If the sensor becomes damaged to to overloading the device, refer to this guide for sensor replacement.
Outer Casing is Damaged
Damaging the case should not affect the device's ability to perform accurate readings.
Keys Are Unresponsive
The key connection may be compromised.
Display Damaged
The display is physically damaged
Display Is Broken
If the display sustained damage it may be necessary to replace the screen.

My AWS-100 started to give a code "FULL" whenever I turn it on. Tare and Mode buttons are totally un-responsive, even when holding either down for several seconds.
It is only a few months old, well taken care of and used gently and properly.
Any fixes for this "FULL" code?
LTMD - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
I am experiencing the same problem. Today it was giving readings when nothing was on it so i calibrated it as i always do but then it immediately started reading full after it had passed. Since then ive turned it off and back on, changed batteries, tried tearing and calibrating but neither buttons respond. It essentially will only turn off and on. It is also only a few months old and well taken care off. I hope someone posts a solution. Thanks

Have you found a cure for the FULL syndrome on the aws scales??
Mitchel Huether -
I have been experiencing the same FULL mode code on my AWS 100 and I can’t find an solution to fixing the issue
Ash Miller -
I have been having the same problem it was working fine I tried calibrating it and immediately after it read FULL and hasn't done anything since. PLEASE HELP

jramsay0 - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
This is the same problem I've had three times now and with scales no more than 2 months old. I know I should invest in better scales but they are cheap and I like them. And I have not heard of a solution yet.
djschooley69 - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
So pretty much I should junk this and find better scales? It seems a common issue and no reply for months on how to fix.

My aws-100 is weighing everything at x3 in gram setting. I have taken it apart and cleaned under the scale I have changed batteries I have even recalabrated it but a 5g nickel is weighing in at 18g how do I fix this

Need to calibrate with 20 nickels.
Adam Garber -
And now all my weights are off a whole lot
Rocky Salas - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
The “full" error code has to be a gate on the circuit board which counts and records the number of times the scale is calibrated. This is the only logical reason for this code based on the similar circumstances which are reported by all affected AWS owners prior to receiving the code. The company has engineered these “POS” scales to immediately cease functioning once a certain number of calibration functions have been reached. This keeps scale owners purchasing a new set of scales every month or two. It's a dirty way to gauruntee revenues but I'm guessing it's extremely effective. I am currently attempting to identify the gate which is causing this problem so I can discover exactly how it operates and remove it or bypass it all together. I will be glad to produce a simple schematic and some basic instructions once I've successfully completed the reconfiguration. This will likely take me a few days to figure out but I intend to do it because I am very tired of purchasing new scales every few weeks.
Jerry Harris - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
I know how to remedy your “circuit board" gate issue using original gate configuration and only a little weight. No re-engineering current electronics necessary. Notice the direct linear rise is proportional ot the number of nickels on scale. Instruction available after these messages…DUN DUN DUNNNN!
Jessica L Reed -
Any suggestions? ? I'm having a issue with this after calibration so need a solution
Becky Hicks -
wth? That is dirty-low-down! Well, since there is no further explanation here, in May 2018, I guess I will begrudgingly purchase another set. Thank Heaven for Amazon Prime!
Disaster of Chaos -
Jerry Harris I am wondering if you have figured out how to solve the “full" problem?
Jackson rome -
Well it’s been a few years did u ever figure it out it should be as simple as cutting the wire that causes the gate and limits the number of times u can calibrate it
Colby gillespie -
my aws-600 shows a bullseye in lower left corner of display and shows wrong weight in grams. anyone had this issue?
jimmy Z - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
I got the same problem
Arnulfo Garcia -
My display is jumping around and will not tare out to zero. It is jumping around round like you are adding then taking weight off.

My AWS AXIS-100 won't read weight I put a nickel on it reads 0.0 I put a lil pressure on it and the scale shows numbers what do I need to do to fix it
Dillon M - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
So what's up with the display saying “FULL”??? Is it fixable?? THESE THINGS ARE P.O.S!!! My blade 100 is Only 2-3 Weeks old, kept in case and the box!! Just calibrated it a few days ago bc it's never been ON POINT, and was way off. Used it once after that and now its displaying “FULL"!!!
Amanda Corbin - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
The reason that we experience the reading FULL on our scales is because there is a thing inside the scale called a gate this gate reads the number of times the scale has been calibrated after a certain limit it hits full now you have the option to send back and wait a month or run out and buy another set it is how they make their money
Justin Allen - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Mine weighs incorrect I placed 7grams and it reads me 20 I have calibrated it lots of times and still reads me wrong weight and it’s brand new ????
Arnulfo Garcia - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
I have a brand new scale out of box that wont calibrate it says PASS but then the numbers just keep jumping
jeby - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
I just got another one of the aws 1000g scale and once again I use a 500g weight to calibrate it. Like the scale ask for. And this time it is reading way to high. I have put a 1gr brass weight on the center of the plate and it's reading at17.35g. I'm going to make sure that no one else gets ripped off by aws. Anyone who has ever bought a P. O. S. Demand your money back.
ROBERT STEELE - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
I found one scale that was made in the ussr. in the 1990s. I put one double A battery in the scale. The lady charged me. 25 cent for it cause she said that in had not been turned on in 15 years. I calibrated the way it had on the inside of the cover and everything that I have put on the 25 year old scale has been spot on. SO IF YOU ARE UNLUCKY ENOUGH TO OWN A AWS 1000g scale read the comment I left before. go and find another scale and get a hold of AWS. and demand your money back cause the scale is N. F. G!! I have been using scalesat work for 43 years. And by far the 1000g is the worst of all. Thank you. I have yet to hear from AWS about getting a refund for the 37 scales I bought for the class. I think I am going to get the universityinvolved in this matter.
ROBERT STEELE - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
This didn’t last me more than two weeks total junk… no one will replace it
Leaman Brittain - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
So is there any way around this diabolical ‘FULL` code. What is it and how do we get back to the business of the weighing of and things that need to be weighed?
Thomas Fields - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Mine was workng great all day and has since I bought them about a mouth or do ago. I thought they was actually a really good pair of scales untill that night the screen said FULL!!!! Now Everytime I turned them on the sreeen says FULL. Y and WHAT is causing them to do that?? Someone please help me understand this please. Thanks in advance!!!
Amanda brown - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Who have a “cure” or “fix" for FULL stuff. The company had to know about this too. If everybody's is doing it now then there is no way they couldn't have known.
Amanda brown - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
I tried ccalibrating at 100 placed the nickel on the platform and it keeps blinking and won't calabrate

My scale as been great for a couple of years. I remove the battery after each use. Now suddenly it says EEEE. It will calibrate but takes several attempts, then starts at 2000 and go to EEEE
Ann Valdez - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
I was wondering why my scale would read
O-Ld? I needed to calibrate my scale and I don't have a traditional weight to do this but I am using something that weights 1000 g like needed. Well I follow Cal. Procedures and I notice it will go to weight amount needed but will stay flashing , so I put 1000g on and it will keep flashing .. I waited a min and removed weight because it never read Pass and go to regular weighting screen as described in Manuel . So after removing weight it still blinks 1000g so I turn off unit and back on . Wait till reads 0.0 and put 1000g on to see if it's correct and screen read o- Ld ? Please help if can … Thank you…

May scale is showing a o-Ld when placing an 50 gram Ball Jar on the scale. What am I doing wrong.? The 50 gram weigh of the gar came from the Ball themselves. Please help.

Eli Vonfeldt - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
It's not working. I'll turn it on and instead of shifting to the weight function, the click of the on off button resets the time to 00:00 and it does not change to the weighing function.
No idea what to do. Please email me back at Rosezeitler@gmail.com

My AWS 2 kg scale keeps cycling through all the different modes. When I press the mode button it wants to calibrate and won’t settle on one mode. The Tare button does not seem to work. Any ideas?

I tried calibrating my AWS Scale and instead of it saying I needed 100g to calibrate it, it said I needed 500g's. Now when I use it if I put a 10g weight on it, it says that I have 33.3g's on it. If I put 100g's on it it read 333.3g's. It triples whatever amount I actually put on the scale. Anyone ever have such a problem or know how to fix it. I swapped out batteries. I am at a loss what to do next. TIA.
