Battery Drains Really Fast
My device's battery life experiences massive drain when idle or is not consistent with marketed battery lifetime.
Device Needs to Be Restarted
Sometimes a quick reboot of your device could be all that is needed to solve many issues. Press and hold the power button down for 3 seconds until you see a shutdown request message. Select Ok and proceed to wait a couple of seconds for your device to turn off before you hold down the power button again for 3 seconds to turn the device back on.
Battery Draining From Background Running Apps
Make sure that you close out of apps when they are not in use to help preserve battery life. To close an app, press the square navigation button on your taskbar, this will present each currently running application on your device. To close an application, swipe up on the window. If you wish to force close an application you will need to go to the Settings application and select Apps and Games or Apps and Notifications and select Manage All Applications. Find the application you wish to close and select force stop on it.
Device Stays On When In-Active
Reducing the time it takes for your screen to automatically turn off when it senses the device is not in use, is a great way to conserve battery. To reduce the screen timeout, go to your Settings application select Display or Display and Sounds, select Display Sleep or Sleep, and from this menu, you will be able to choose how many seconds or minutes your device stays on when not in use.
Device Running Unnecessary Functions
Keeping your device in battery saver or low power mode will help to preserve the battery by limiting certain functions and helping the longevity of your device. To enable battery saver or low power mode, navigate to Settings, select Battery and select Low Power Mode. You will be given the option to set up a way for your device to automatically turn this mode on when it reaches a certain point in its battery life, or you can choose to have it on all the time.
Device Not Up to Date
Make sure your system is updated to the latest version. Regularly checking to make sure your device is running the latest software update is a great way to help maintain the performance and security of your device. To check if it needs an update, navigate to your Settings applications, select Device Options, select System Updates, and select Updates. On this screen, you will be given the option to check to see if your device is running the most recent software release by selecting Check Now. You will either have to update your device which will require a restart or you will be up to date.
Faulty Battery
If the Battery of the device only maintains a charge when plugged in, or only turns on if plugged in, no matter how long it is plugged in, then the battery is faulty and in need of replacement. You can replace the battery using this guide.
Won't Read Micro SD Card
Micro SD card not being detected by device, file system not supported, or having trouble inserting the Micro SD card.
Device Needs to Be Restarted
Sometimes a quick reboot of your device could be all that is needed to solve an issue. Press and hold the power button down for 3 seconds until you see a shutdown request message. Select Ok and proceed to wait a couple of seconds for your device to turn off before you hold down the power button again for 3 seconds to turn the device back on.
Incompatible Micro SD Card
The Fire Max 11 is marketed to support up to 1 terabyte of storage. For internal storage make sure that your Micro SD card has at least Class 10 or UHS, Ultra High Speed. The class refers to the theoretical maximum transfer speed of the Micro SD card, where class 10 would be 10MB/s and UHS I would be 104MB/s. If your micro SD card is Class 4 or higher it will only be supported as portable storage.
Incorrectly Inserted the Micro SD Card
For a visual guide on removing and inserting a Micro SD card please use this guide. The Fire Max 11 uses pinhole ejection to insert or remove Micro SD cards. So with the proper tool or similar object such as a paper clip, you will be able to eject the cartridge from the device. You will notice there is an arrow on the top side of the cartridge showing which direction to re-insert the cartridge. Align the Micro SD card to fit within the grooves of the cartridge. Slowly re-insert the cartridge back into the device to ensure the Micro SD does not move.
Once inserted you will be presented with a prompt to use the Micro SD card as internal or portable storage. If you did not see the pop-up, you should have received a notification, which can be accessed by sliding your finger down from the top of the device screen, asking you to set up your newly inserted Micro SD card.
Micro SD Card Not Formatted
The Fire Max 11 only supports the FAT32 file system. If your Micro SD card is currently formatted to use any other system such as exFAT, you will have to re-format it. Note: reformatting your Micro SD card will erase any already existing data saved on the card, so it is recommended that you back up any data that you wish to keep. To reformat, go to the Settings application, select Storage, select the Micro SD card you wish to reformat, in the top right of your screen select the 3 dot drop-down menu, select Storage Settings, and select Format.
Device Won't Accept Micro SD Card
In order to isolate the problem, try testing your Micro SD card with another device. If you are experiencing similar issues on other devices, the problem may lie with the Micro SD card itself rather than your device.
Faulty Micro SD Card
If you have no other means of testing whether or not the Micro SD card is the problem, try using another Micro SD card, preferably one that you are confident is in working condition or is brand new. If the problem persists, the problem may be with your device's Micro SD card’s slot whether with the Micro SD card itself.
Screen is Unresponsive or Broken
My screen is sub-optimal after being dropped or being hit by something. It either is black and not turning on, or it has visible cracks or bubbles on the glass, impairing usability, and possibly inflicting harm on the user.
Device is in Sleep Mode
Press and hold the power button for three seconds to make sure the device is on. You will know the device is on when you hear a chime, and you will see the amazon and fire logo animations.
Battery is Not Fully Charged
Plug your device into the included 15W Type C charger and allow it to charge. Your device can take up to 3.5 hours to be fully charged.
Screen Protector is Not on Properly
If your device turns on like normal, but there are bubbles appearing, there could be pockets of air trapped underneath the screen protector. Remove your screen protector, and reapply it, starting from the top and slowly pressing it on the screen to push the air out from under it.
Air Pockets Trapped Under Screen
Air pockets can sometimes get under your screen, causing the screen to either react slowly or not respond at all to touch. This usually occurs if your device has been underwater recently, or a repair occurred on your device without a proper seal. Press and slightly bend your device until the bubbles are forced near the edge of the screen, where they will dissipate.
Faulty Screen
If your device will not turn on after receiving damage, or the screen is too damaged to use comfortably, your screen is faulty. In that case, it becomes necessary for you to replace your faulty screen or broken screen.
Won’t Connect to the Internet
Unable to find or keep a stable internet connection.
Unconnected From WiFi
Turn on your device. Swipe down from the top of the screen, and then tap and hold the Wi-Fi button for 3 seconds. If your device is an older version, swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the Wi-Fi button, then tap “More Settings” to find the wifi setting. If you see your WiFi is not turned on, then turn it on. If turned on already then turn it off and on four times. If that doesn't work then press "forget from network”, and then re-enter the password, then tap reconnect.
Forgot WiFi Password
First see if you're connected to a wifi network, if so disconnect and wait 5 seconds. Once disconnected, tap on the network and also “press forget network” so it forgets the password to this network. Now click on the network again, enter the password, and then press “connect.”
Faulty WiFi Module
If your device will not connect to the internet despite all the solutions provided, you may have a faulty wifi module. In this case, you may have to replace the wifi module.
Battery Won’t Accept A Charge
My device does not display if it is receiving any charge from a working power outlet.
Device Needs to Be Restarted
Start by unplugging your device from the charging cable or wireless charging station. While disconnected from a charge, hold down the power button for 40 seconds or until the device restarts. Once the device boots up, reconnect the device to your charging cable.
If the device is still not accepting a charge, move on to the next solution.
Dirty or Obstructed Charging Port
Start by powering off your device by holding down the power button for 40 seconds or until the device shuts off. Once the device is off, use compressed air or a bulb syringe to clean the charging port. Blast the port with a few short bursts of air to try and get any dust out of the device (If you are using compressed air of any sort, hold the can upright to avoid getting any water into the port). Turn the device back on and attempt to charge it. If it still is not charging, turn the device off again and use a toothpick to gently pull any debris from the charging port (do not use any type of small brush like a toothbrush to clean the debris as bristles from these can break off and become stuck in the device). Spray the compressed air once again to blow away any loosened debris, then turn the device on and attempt to charge. If the device is still not accepting a charge, move on to the next fix.
Faulty Charging Port
If your charging port is broken, or all other solutions have failed, then your Charging port is faulty. In this case, its important to replace your charging port.
