Faulty Power Adapter
Ensure the power adapter is plugged in and the charge light is on. If the light is not on, and the adapter is plugged in, the adapter is faulty or the speaker is fully charged. Consider purchasing a replacement adapter.

Is there a fix to these speaker boxes when the power stays on but wont connect to bluetooth? With the battery plugged in, the Blue LED light comes on. Power button does NOT turn the unit off, thinking its faulty. Seems to be a lot of this happening with these units. How can I get a replacement when this was a b-day gift from the wife? Same issue on the Sonic Boom. Blue tooth and power button lights remain on even if the on/off switch is off. Won't connect to Bluetooth, or play on aux.. factory reset doesn't work either.. Just frozen

I've now had two of these darn life jackets go bad, a 3 and a 4!!!! The 3 appears to be on and the volume shows it on the phone's turning up and down… but no sound. The 4 will not turn on at all.
What a waste of a few hundred dollars!!! And I haven't gotten answers from Altec on any sort of compensation!!!

I had the same issue with the speaker, and tried every fix that was posted to no avail. Being I’m out camping I decided to use it as a charging station for my GoPro and phone, as soon as I plugged both of them in there was a snap from the speaker and it reset and has been working fine for two days now. I'm not saying that it is the fix but it worked for me.

I realize this is old but I just had the same issue on one I purchased less than 24hours ago.
While reading this post and just happened to get it reset by holding power, + and - all together. Instantly said “powering on" even though it was already on and was able to shut it off after that.
Maybe this will help should someone come upon this post.

Ok so I hear no sound. Speaker was working great. Turned off my phone and attempt to connect wife's. Now the speaker will show either phone paired , can see the music file I indicate that music is playing however can not hear from my phone ( which says it is connected ) or from the speaker??

I just had this happen. I think it believes a microphone is in use on your phone. I used the mic option in notes on my iphone and it started working again.

Our Lifejacket doesn't say “Welcome to Altec Lansing" and it shows the phone playing to LJ BUT not only is there no audio it won't forward the music either. SMH

We just bought ours not even 2 hours ago. We tested it out on our way back home. Everything seemed fine. Got home turn it back on and now there's this super noisy sound we cant turn it down. Disconnected Bluetooth and connected again and the noise still there. I can hear the music but is distorted. Don't tell me to needs replacement when is less than 2 hours new. :-/

I found the fix! For my unit anyways. I got a charge light but it would not power on. I pulled off the rubber sleeve and the back mesh grill. There are 4 little rubber stoppers that hide the screws. After removing the screws I pulled the unit in 2. There is a glued in gasket so it may need a little scoring with a knife. I then unplugged the battery and plugged it back in which in effect reset the unit. Hit the power button and it immediately powered up! There were two connectors from the battery and I unplugged them both and waited 10 seconds.

I realize this is 1 year later in response but I followed your instructions and it worked! The model I have has 5 screws and they took forever to unscrew but I got them out. My wires are connected to a plastic connector, that I removed. I didn't take the wires out of that connector. I waited probably 5 minutes before I plugged it back it. Tested it before I reassembled everything. Thank you for your detailed instructions. <3

Mine keeps turning off. It turns on perfectly fine with its welcome message, but after 10-15 minutes it says powering off and turns off. I can turn it on immediately and it says its welcome message and starts playing sound again… and repeat process every 10-15 min. Power light stays on when i turn it on till it decides to shut itself off. Charges perfectly fine. Doesnt turn on by itself. No broken buttons.

I think the entire line of this product is susceptible to manufacturer’s defects. I know they cancelled the OMNI Jacket which I own. THe unit just powers itself on and off. Today if I listened at the loudest level it just turned off. Design failure.

Yor should be able to return for a new one. I've had mine for 4 years. It's gone tubing with me and spent time submerged in the water. Been left in the rain. It's been thrown around by toddlers at the daycare I work at and kayaking!

Mine is all of a sudden restarting the track that was playing. I know it’s a speaker issue and not a phone issue. And it seems to happen when I’m using it outside it may have something to do with the sun even though it’s not really hot. But it just keeps restarting the song about 10 seconds in and over and over
