PWILLIAMS, sounds like your DLP chip is failing. It literally has thousands of tiny mirrors on it and each "flake " you see is a mirror failing. This is a known problem for this model and Mitsubishi had at one time a program, to cover 1/2 half of the repair cost. You may want to contact them on here.
