Is the audio controller appearing in Device Manager > Sound , Video and Game controllers?

If there is an entry for the audio controller, does it have a red cross or a yellow exclamation mark next to it?

If a red cross, right click on the entry and select enable and then see if it is working.

If a yellow exclamation mark, right click on entry and select update drivers and follow the prompts.

If there is no entry for the audio controller go to Device Manager > Action tab > scan for Hardware changes and check if Windows detects the controller.

What OS is installed?
