  • Once the oil has slowed to a drip, wipe off the area around the drain plug with a clean rag or towel.

  • Reinstall the drain plug and tighten it with a box end wrench until it is snug. Alternatively, you can use a torque wrench to verify that the plug is tightened to spec. The torque spec for the drain plug is 29 ft./lbs. (39 Nm)

  • Do not over-tighten the drain plug. You may risk stripping the threads or cracking the oil pan. It's better that it be too loose, rather than too tight, because you can always go back later and tighten it. If in doubt, verify the torque using a torque wrench.

Una vez que el aceite se reduzca a un goteo, limpie el área alrededor del tapón de drenaje con un paño limpio o una toalla.

Vuelve a instalar el tapón de drenaje y apriétalo con una llave inglesa hasta que quede ajustado. Alternativamente, puedes usar una llave dinamométrica para verificar que el enchufe esté ajustado a la especificación. La especificación de torsión para el tapón de drenaje es de 29 ft./lbs. (39 Nm). No aprietes demasiado el tapón de drenaje.

Puede arriesgarse a pelar los hilos o romper el cárter de aceite. Es mejor que sea demasiado flojo, en lugar de demasiado apretado, porque siempre puedes retroceder más tarde y apretarlo. En caso de duda, verifique el torque con una llave dinamométrica.
