When kintsugi is used for fixing a broken mug handle

  • Arrange the broken cup handle correctly, like you were trying to fit a puzzle together. Apply a thin coat of epoxy resin to both sides of each piece.

  • When the epoxy resin is slightly dry, start to attach the broken handle together. It is recommended that you work with someone to do this for more stable work. Each time you do this, use washi (painters) tape to secure it tightly in place.

  • This process may require several attempts. Do not give up and use washi tape to secure it back to its original shape. Leave it for 15-20 minutes to let it completely dry.

  • Once you are sure it is completely dry, carefully peel off the washi tape and gently sand it with a file.

  • As described in the previous step, carefully apply mixed lacquer and gold powder over the epoxy resin.

  • Now your broken coffee cup is reborn as a unique, one-of-a-kind entity!

Quando il Kintsugi si usa per riparare il manico rotto di una tazza

Disponi correttamente il manico rotto della tazza, come se stessi incastrando un puzzle. Applica uno strato sottile di resina epossidica su entrambi i lati di ciascun pezzo.

Quando la resina epossidica è leggermente asciutta, inizia a fissare insieme il manico rotto. Ti consiglio di lavorare con qualcuno per ottenere maggiore stabilità durante il lavoro. Ogni volta che esegui questa operazione, utilizza il nastro adesivo washi (per pittori) per fissarlo saldamente in posizione.

Questo processo potrebbe richiedere diversi tentativi. Non arrenderti e usa il nastro washi per fissarlo di nuovo nella sua forma originale. Lascialo asciugare completamente per 15-20 minuti.

Una volta certo che sia completamente asciutto, stacca con cura il nastro washi e levigalo delicatamente con una lima.

Come descritto nel passo precedente, applica con cura la lacca mescolata con la polvere d'oro sulla resina epossidica.

Ora la tua tazza da caffè rotta è rinata come un pezzo unico e raro!
