Option 2: Battery/Boost-Converter Platine provisorisch reparieren #RockRep2019

  • Bei einem anderen Rockster (#RockRep2019) waren Mosfet und Diode der vierten Phase defekt. In dem Fall gibt es die Option, den 4-Phasen-Boost-Converter in einen 3-Phasen-Boost-Converter umzuwandeln. (Das könnte bei sehr hoher Musikleistung im Akkubetrieb Probleme machen, da die übrigen Phasen mehr Leistung führen und wärmer werden)

  • Laut Datenblatt des Controllers TPS40090 muss dazu der PWM-Ausgang von Phase4 mit dem internen LDO verbunden werden. Die nötige Verbindung ist im Foto in rot eingezeichnet. (Das orangene Kabelstück führt leider an den Pin "Vin" statt "BP5", funktioniert hat es aber trotzdem)

  • Den defekten Mosfet der Phase 4 auslöten.

  • Die Doppel-Schottky-Diode auf der Rückseite kann für Phase 3 weiter benutzt werden. Dazu wird nur das Beinchen für Phase 4 durchtrennt.

Option 2: Repair battery/boost converter board temporarily #RockRep2019

On another Rockster (#RockRep2019) the MOSFET and diode of the fourth phase were defective. In that case, there is an option to convert the 4-phase boost converter to a 3-phase boost converter. (This could cause problems at very high music power in battery mode, because the other phases carry more power and become warmer).

According to the data sheet of the TPS40090 controller, the PWM output of phase4 must be connected to the internal LDO for this purpose. The necessary connection is drawn in red in the photo. (The orange piece of cable unfortunately leads to pin "Vin" instead of "BP5", but it still worked).

Unsolder the defective MOSFET of phase 4.

The double Schottky diode on the backside can be used for phase 3. Just cut the leg for phase 4.
