The metal cage is kept in place by three plastic tabs on the plastic body. Focus your pulling around these tabs to make the job easier.

In order to remove the metal cage, place one hand firmly on the back plastic body and your other hand on the metal cage.

Now work your way around the edge of the fan cage and pull it away from the plastic body.
