Place the earbuds into a helping hands tools to make it easier to work with while soldering. (Photo 1)

Heat up the soldering iron.

Recommend using a conical solder tip for the small pads and to prevent any unwanted damage to the surrounding plastic.

Hold the tip of the iron onto the pad where one of the battery wires is attached until the solder melts and the wire is released from the pad.

Use tweezers to pry underneath the battery terminal wire so that it does not rettach to the pad as the solder cools back down. (Photo 2)

Do the same for the second battery terminal wire.

Gently tug on the body of the battery itself so that it does not rettach to the pad as the solder cools back down. (Photo 3)
